U-2: Capt Hawkens Tribute

Post by sabrejet » Fri Aug 27, 2021 5:12 pm

Apologies for the abysmal photos: hopefully someone will post better. This is today's mission U-2 at Fairford, with tribute tail art, commemorating the life of Capt Hawkens, killed 29 August 1995 in a U-2 crash at Fairford.

What a lovely tribute to a lovely man . I had a chat with him & had his autograph at IAT 95. A sad loss.

The quality doesn't matter - the fact they did it and you thought to capture it is tribute enough.

Excellent tribute, very fitting from both you and the artwork team, thanks for sharing.. :thumb:
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Yes this is a great tribute and its good to see they still do so.

There is a commemorative plague next to the crash gate near to where it happened.
