Are the AH1 Apaches being phased out, with all of them being replaced by AH2's?

50 of the original AH1s are being stripped of spares and equipment, then disposed of.GoldenEagle wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 3:05 pmAre the AH1 Apaches being phased out, with all of them being replaced by AH2's?

50 new AH-64Es are being built, and fitted with some of the equipment removed from the AH1s.

Also, they are NOT called Apache AH2, they are Apache AH-64E.
IT MAY BE in the future that they get re-designated, but that is by no means certain (See C-17A, RC-135W, Lightning F-35B etc).

Re: Wattisham 12th May 2021
Check! I was searching in the Scramble Military Database and there the newer AH64E's are called AH2s, but that's not sure at all then. Makes those 4 Apaches at Eindhoven even better, as it were 4 new ones for me haha.tommc wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 7:00 amNo problem Jos, glad to help.

Re: Wattisham 12th May 2021
Hope they remember to let The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop have an AH.1?
Re: Wattisham 12th May 2021
I think Scramble have just made an ASSUMPTION. It MAY prove to be correct eventually once they are signed off and certified for UK operation, but at the moment they are WRONG, they are Apache AH-64E.GoldenEagle wrote: ↑Fri May 14, 2021 9:38 am

I think one has been allocated for the Museum there.
