Lakenheath & Mildenhall - Tues 9th Oct

Post by LN Strike Eagle » Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:08 pm

Rough and ready selection from today's plentiful activity. Really enjoyable day out.

First up were the last battered and beaten 494FS jets returning from six months away, once more sporting a nice selection of nose art.

The locals and the visitors then got going, returning from the morning launches in lovely autumn light.

The Rhinos were back up for a local flight late in the afternoon, returning early evening.

And rounding out with a couple of quick grabs from Mildenhall in the last of the sunlight. Should have gone there 20 minutes earlier.

Great stuff

You certainly made the most of a fine day.

( 494FS might say battered but never beaten)

Thanks for the comments. Had planned for an outing to Marham today, but a morning stop at Mildenhall ended up lasting the whole day. Probably could/should have tried Lakenheath again as the runway 06 departures were apparently pretty good, although they probably needed more reach than my lens has, so went in search of some Ospreys instead. Pretty good day on that front, and there was an EP-3C in that drew a crowd too.

I'll sort out some proper pics from today another time, I'll just post these up for now.
