hopefully heading for the airshow in a couple of weeks time, any advice? have never been before.
i believe you cant take in rucksacks (camera bag) is that right?
possibly some restrictions on lens sizes?
will i be able to get around the museum as well or is that still closed off to "aliens"?
any info greatly appreciated.
cheers
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

This link may help:
https://navalaviationmuseum.org/museum-faqs/
Click on the Admission/Security dropdown. It reads to me as if you may not get in at all unless you can meet the required criteria. Maybe contact the base for confirmation.

Museum was still closed to all non US citizens last week, no idea if that is different when the show is on though.YellowBelly wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:40 pmhopefully heading for the airshow in a couple of weeks time, any advice? have never been before.

so successfully got into the airshow. After parking up, we followed the crowd to the entry gate but when we got to the entry gate with our passports id, we were directed to another gate about 100 metres away. Here our passports were checked, bags searched, body searched and details uploaded to some database by NCIS personnel. it didn't take long and they were very nice about it.
I went back on the sunday to see if i could get access to the museum but this is still denied for foreigners unless you are escorted by a US citizen.
Interestingly a chap told me that had i gone through a pedestrian gate which was manned behind the Blue Angels hangar, i may have been allowed to go through that and then walk to the museum. seems a bit odd that this would be allowed, but if i ever go back am going to try this on the Friday, and if successful, enjoy the show on the Saturday.
after the show, we passed the museum on exit, i nearly cried lol

Hi YellowBelly
Much obliged for the kind update.
It sure is a crying shame that official access to the museum is denied, a place that I somehow have managed to
miss on US visits so far.
Fingers crossed for the future, the 'recent future' hopefully!
