Hi,
The Russian Knights have a habit of cancelling so base your decision without them in the equation is my advice. Should still be some good stuff though if history is anything to go by.

What am I missing here??.. this Show is shaping-up to be in the top 5 this year (2013), yet there appears to be no updates from the 'informed' on this Forum!

Re: Kecskemet Airshow Hungary 2013

Sounds like this will be a good show, possibility of getting some decent shots of some Eastern European aircraft. Are many people planning to go from on here? Also has anyone been to a previous airshow there?
Re: Kecskemet Airshow Hungary 2013
It's usually a very good show - though it was better when the Hungarians used to have Mig-29's. In my oppinion its one of the top 5 shows in Europe, along with Zeltweg and Radom.GVLCN wrote:Sounds like this will be a good show, possibility of getting some decent shots of some Eastern European aircraft. In recent years they have had some rare visitors - Israeli F-16 and Serbian Mig-21's. It gets quite busy so get there early. There is usually a 9 foot high fence between the crowd and the runway, so taking photos of stuff on the runway can be a bit of a problem. If that's what you want to do, then either take stepladders, or try to get on the spotters/press flatbeds.
Re: Kecskemet Airshow Hungary 2013
Didn't realise there was a 9foot fence between you and the runway, are you away from the taxi-way too? Also would you recommend me the spotters pack? Can't figure out what it is,,, my main aim is getting decent photos
Re: Kecskemet Airshow Hungary 2013
It's not a solid fence - it's a chain link type jobbie. PITA though. It might not be 9 foot tall - but it's more than 6 foot. You can fit a lens through the links, but it's difficult to pan on landing aircraft like that. From memory yes it's also in the way of most of the taxiways. The flying stuff parks near the tower, and there is a concrete blast wall between the crowdline and the aircraft, so that's pretty rubbish for photos. At the runway end there are some grass revetments you can climb up if you get there early, and if the rozzers allow you to stay up there.GVLCN wrote:Didn't realise there was a 9foot fence between you and the runway, are you away from the taxi-way too? I've no idea about the Spotters packs - never done one. But they normally build a kind of 'stage' on the backs of several flatbed trucks at crowd centre. These are high enough to get un-obstructed views over the fence. I don't know if these are for Press only - or whether the spotters packs might allow you entry to them. General public don't get access - that I do know.
Re: Kecskemet Airshow Hungary 2013
Thank you very much for the info much appreciated, guessing its a good show though? Also another quick question is will a 400mm lens be long enough for flying shots? Take-off's etc?
Re: Kecskemet Airshow Hungary 2013
Yep - good show. As I say if you can only do one foreign show this year, then any of Kescemet, Zeltweg or Radom are the ones to go for IMHO. We're planning to do all three.GVLCN wrote:Thank you very much for the info much appreciated, guessing its a good show though? 400mm is enough for the flying. Probably a bit long for the landing stuff (200-300 for that) and definatly too long for taxiways (100 mm ish).
