Hi folks,

Has anyone done Paris in a day from the UK??

I can get into London for the first Eurostar of the day, and I understand that there are shuttle busses to the airfield (train from Paris to Le Bourget I assume).

Might give it a go next year...

You need to get the RER to Le Bourget station and buses are laid on from there, but can be easier to walk!

Just to add to Sneezys question, as im thinking of a day trip aswell, It says on the official website that general public are only allowed in friday to sunday (as at Farnborough) and a grandstand is available for an extra 10 euros on the north side - any one done this? is it any good ?

The way we were looking at it was hopefully Easyjet Luton to CDG then there is a bus that runs from CDG to Le Bourget.

I went on the Saturday a few years back (2009?) and whilst I don't recall seeing a grandstand (there MAY have been one), my overriding memory is of HUGE numbers of people everywhere, so much so that you were effectively reduced to shuffling round the static park amongst the great hordes. As soon as I had been round the static park and attempted to photograph what I could, I left the exhibition area and walked up to the "Roundhouse" at the top end of the airfield to watch the show from there (although not much good for photography!).

That said, I've also been on a trade day, and much the same as Farnborough, they seemed happy to just take our money, regardless of any trade links! This was obviously much better because it was so much quieter! That was in 1999, so it may well have changed since then!

I think photowise you might be better off watching Le Salon from outside. I went there myself in 2009 and it was a nightmare trying to get any pix of the static, however when we left (relatively early), we drove past the end of the runway there and I noticed quite a few spotters and photographers under the approach and I recall a few were on some high ground?
So I might give that a try next year instead (and save my £40!)

If you can avoid the Public Days - its carnage. I have done day trips by air and by road. Bus from CDG is easy.

Paris Airshow? Went in 2009 and remember thinking that they had some brilliant aircraft participation but that was about it.

Have done it on the ferry out and back in a day, as others have said avoid the public days if you can.

The show was on the Strizhi's website (in russian) for themselves and the Knights in 2013.

I've been most shows since '75.
I'd always go on a trade day, if you can afford the ticket price - less people/ more aircraft. I can't recall ever being asked for a business card.
Get yourself a photo permit if you're going to take photos outside.
Consider National Express from Victoria Coach Stn. £45 rtn at present. Outbound 2230hrs arriving CDG 0715hrs. Inbound 2330hrs ex CDG arriving Victoria 0600hrs. Local bus to/from LBG. Details on 't web.
Hotels. There is an IBIS (where the Concorde came down) 1.5 miles north of the heliport directly up the D319 which you might be able to walk if you're on a budget.

Title it "Paris Airports Photography Permit" and include your name, address and a copy of the photo page of your passport.

Takes up to two weeks, you get a piece of paper back in French.

If I remember correctly, Paris doesn't release a participation list.
