Just as a matter of interest I went to my first Malta air show in 2001 - literally a few days after 9/11
It was touch and go whether we would get there let alone carry our cameras etc.
Anyway I digress, we were told by the local aviation group/society that the air show
is always held as near as possible to Independence day which is 25th September.

Swiss F/A-18C returning to Malta this year. Hopefully its a slightly more straight-forward weekend for the team than last time.

We're excited to announce that the Romanian Air Force will be joining us on static at the Malta Airshow 2023 in the form of an Antonov AN-30! The Romanian Air Force AN-30 is a twin-engine turboprop military transport aircraft that is primarily used for aerial surveying and mapping.

The AN-30 has a crew of five, including two pilots, a navigator, and two surveyors. It is equipped with various sensors and cameras, making it a valuable asset for military and civilian applications, such as mapping and reconnaissance missions. The AN-30 has been in service with the Romanian Air Force since the 1980s and has undergone several upgrades over the years to improve its capabilities. The Romanian AF currently operate two examples of this rare and unique aircraft, and we are therefore thrilled to have it in Malta in September!

Things always change in Malta, but I believe they are using the same plan as 2021. The static display at the airport (though possibly a new location entirely due to developments on Apron 4) and the flying displays along Q'awra coastline.

We are thrilled to announce that the world-famous RAF Red Arrows will be returning to Malta for the Malta International Airshow 2023. The Red Arrows are one of the world's most impressive aerobatic display teams, and their precision and skill in the air are simply awe-inspiring.

But that's not all โ€“ this year, we have a special connection with the Red Arrows, as the Teamโ€™s Safety Supervisor and Red 10 is none other than Squadron Leader Graeme Muscat, who is of Maltese descent. Sqn Ldr Muscat had already visited us during the Malta International Airshow back in 2017, bringing to the Island the first-ever Hawk T.2. We are incredibly proud to have a Maltese connection with this esteemed team.

We are honoured to welcome the Red Arrows and Sqn Ldr Graeme Muscat back to Malta. Stay tuned for more updates on the Malta International Airshow 2023.

German Tornado announced for the static display
We are thrilled to announce that the German Air Force will be participating in static at the upcoming Malta Airshow 2023, and they are bringing their formidable Tornado aircraft with them!

The Tornado, renowned for its sleek design and versatility, has been a cornerstone of the German Air Force for decades. The German Air Force originally took delivery of 247 Tornados, including 35 ECR anti-radar variants, the remainder being IDS strike variants. These were further supplemented between 1994 and 2005 as the German Navy either retired or transferred its own fleet of 112 Tornado IDS aircraft to the Air Force. The current German Air Force fleet has been reduced to around 90 aircraft as it is slowly being phased out but has been constantly upgraded and remains a potent combat aircraft.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the German Air Force for their participation and contribution. Their presence and the Tornado aircraft will undoubtedly make the Malta Airshow 2023 an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
