Looking into doing this show next year, anyone done it before, any tips for accommodation/best time to arrive at the show?

La Ferte is about 30 miles south of Paris. It's quite a rural area. I've always stayed in Paris and used the RER D train from Paris Chatelet les Halles to La Ferte Alais and then walked up the hill to the airfield (about 20-30 minutes). Only problem with the train is there's only one an hour and it takes an hour to Paris. It is also accessible by car and there is parking on the field.
Many of the aircraft that fly in the display can be inspected before flying begins. This normally involves a small fee. Flying is from around 1300-1800 and tends to start off with the oldest aircraft going through the ages with set scenes from WWI, WWII, Vietnam etc finishing with modern jets. There's usually some Aeronavale participation as well.
Photography is pretty good, you are south of the flight line and a 400mm lens will get some good pictures but the fence tends to be occupied quite early.
