Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

Post by turbosix » Wed Aug 12, 2020 9:49 pm

In a few days from now Microsoft will officially rejoin the Flight Simulator community with a brand new iteration of their simulator. I’ve been watching some “first looks” on Youtube from those who have early access and I have to say it looks absolutely stunning. I will probably hold fire buying it until I figure out if I need any additional or replacement hardware but I’ve not felt this hyped about getting back into Flight Simulation for a long, long time.

Same here, not been on flight sim since Gamespy (think that's what it was called) stopped so you couldn't do multiplayer. in FSX There were other ways of course but I never bothered after that.

The new footage seems amazing and the AI ATC seems pretty cool.

Looking forward to it.
Cheers! Jamie

I know the military content on FS 2020 is non-existent at the moment but I'm surprised it isn't generating more comment on here.

How many of you have it?

How are you finding it?

I'm still stubbornly running Win7 so it can't be on my list for the moment. As and when I can afford a new rig that will handle it easily, I guess it will come with W10 so will have to make the change then.

As for the time, I'll then need at least a week to download it as due to my location I max out my download speed at 410kbps....

I read somewhere (I think) that's its possible to play it on Xbox, or will be at somepoint. Or have I got crossed wires, as it appears you need an Xbox game pass to play it?

I understand it is due for release on XBox in December. But don't take my word for it.
Friend got it yesterday (PC), he's very impressed.

I would imagine the xbox release will coincide with the release of the new xbox. That is to say I really doubt it will run on existing models. As for me, my PC is too old as I suspected and I don't really fancy shelling out for a top spec gaming PC so the new xbox might be the way forward for me.

that's about 1/4 of my SSD. I guess it must be worth it.

I believe the actual download is about 91GB, at least it was for me when I downloaded it on release day.

I managed to carve out an hour in the sim and took a trip through the world famous 'Mach Loop' yesterday, it's absolutely fantastic...a million miles better and more immersive than other flightsim's. This I straight out of the box with no mods or addons used. Can't wait for some fast jets aircraft.

The simulator looks realistic. I have not tried this. How difficult is it to manage? It would be interesting to try it, if using it does not turn into sheer torment. In some simulation games, the controls are simply speechless.

Microsoft finally confirms “Summer 2021” release schedule for Xbox Series S and X. This will be really helpful if you don’t want to spend a fortune on a top spec gaming pc. Honeycomb Aeronautics also confirms Xbox compatible Flight control accessories. This makes xbox a serious option.

Sticking with F.S.9.Had it since it came out in 2004. Got massive amount of add-ons, and as airliners are my thing, as long as I have hugely realistic airports, beautiful scenery is not of much interest at 35,000 feet. :)
