Re: Duplicate posts
No, it's not your fault at all. The forum is taking far too long to update when someone hits the Submit button after writing a post, so they hit it again thinking it hasn't worked and that's why we're getting so many duplicates.
Re: Duplicate posts
Thanks Mike, at least I now know how to remove unwanted posts

Re: Duplicate posts
For info, i am currently looking at performing an upgrade to a few components which may help with this. Currently in early testing stages and will post an eta for implementation when i have more.
Re: Duplicate posts
Is there any news on when this will be implemented please? There is still a long lag between hitting the Submit button and the new post/thread being posted, this is still causing lots of duplicate posts and threads.AeroResource wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 8:16 pmFor info, i am currently looking at performing an upgrade to a few components which may help with this. Re: Duplicate posts
Don't forget that until the system is changed, you can help by deleting your own duplicate posts before anyone replies to it.

Re: Duplicate posts
Most members that create duplicate posts don't realise they've done it !
The way to avoid it is to type your post (or new thread) and just click on 'Submit' once, if you click it again during the awful 20(ish) second lag then it will be posted twice.
Adam sorted this before, it was something to do with a bot attack(?) and the forum worked great again for ages after that, now it's come back and is getting worse.
Re: Duplicate posts
Yes, it's something that appears to be getting worse since I re-joined.

Plenty of duplicate posts again today, It must be driving the mods nuts!

Re: Duplicate posts
I will have tidy up if not already done
It would be helpful if members could remember to delete their own duplicates rather than just leaving them

Re: Duplicate posts
This is getting really bad again, is it just me, or is everyone experiencing a 20+ second lag between hitting the 'Submit' button and their post appearing? There's duplicate posts all over the board and nothing has been done about it for a long time.Mike wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 3:58 pmMost members that create duplicate posts don't realise they've done it !

Mike
i'm experiencing similar delays but not just on FC. My thoughts are that the Net is getting overloaded with people streaming vidoeos etc.
That took 9 seconds, perhaps I need more patience

Re: Duplicate posts
Is it because Admin or Moderator staff read the post first ? I've noticed that after hitting submit button that it takes up to 10 seconds to appear and while waiting for their post to appear they are hitting the submit button again ?
Re: Duplicate posts
No, staff don't read each post first, it's because the forum is running incredibly slowly and needs fixed again. It seems to be worse when there are loads of members logged on.Undertaker wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:14 amIs it because Admin or Moderator staff read the post first ?
Re: Duplicate posts
That is because I hit the post/submit button, started to count, then hit the edit button and added the comment
Like that
