Having rec'd a message from Flickr advising of a block on uploads unless I go Pro (with a reduction if purchased by the 8th jan) I'm wondering if other members have rec'd this ultimatum and what advice they can give me.

If you mean the 1000 limit for free use then it was discussed here:
viewtopic.php?f=287&t=169268&p=1041209& ... O#p1041209
I think all Flickr users were emailed regarding the changes.
I am a small-volume user but I think there are two options - pay up or move out basically.

There's 3 options :- Pay for the Pro option (less than £1 a week and upload as much as you like), don't pay and keep your latest 1,000 images, or bin it completely!
I didn't like doing it (I'm from Yorkshire

), but I've coughed-up and I now have a Pro account (it really hurt!), the first year has a 30% discount which works out at around 60p a week - peanuts really.
After all, someone has to pay for the storage costs which aren't cheap, so why not the end-user? It makes sense really.

I knew what you meant, you also have to add the cost of multiple boxes of Kleenex to the equation too.
