If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
Re: Slow forum 2-10-18
The forum has been working at it's normal fast speed all day, but has just slowed down significantly in the last few minutes.
Re: Slow forum 2-10-18
I've just logged on, really very slow again this evening..

Yep very slow here as well, also noted that the site says it's not secure, perhaps we have too many viewers ? [overload]
Re: Slow forum 2-10-18
It says not secure because it doesn't have an SSL certificate. Totally unrelated to speed. Only a tiny fraction of visitors on the site so it's not that either.
I'd imagine there's a rogue process running on the server that needs killing...

Re: Slow forum 2-10-18
There are far, far, too many criteria that might affect the performance of the site for us to speculate really:
Whilst the server is clearly hosted by One and One Internet Limited we don't know if its a virtual server or a collocated server. If its a virtual server we don't know what specification it is, or what their contention ratios are.
The slowness could also be due to a point of contention in the routing between us and the server in question. There could be a defective router causing packet loss... It could be that we are on some kind of backup routing at the moment due to a hardware failure or even just that part of the relevant network is over contended.
The server admin will certainly have sufficient information to determine this for us.
As EGVP said though, the fact the server isn't using SSL is not the answer. That said of course if the Administrator wishes, using the Letsencrypt initiative there is no reason why the server couldn't use SSL without incurring any cost.

Seems slow to me and has done for a few days. Just got thrown out of heads up section and had to sign in again to view, not sure if connected?
Re: Slow forum 2-10-18
Very slow again all this morning and (still) getting a number of "Can't reach page" screens.
Cheers, Bob

Tediously slow particularly when posting .
Re: Slow forum 2-10-18
Mine is really slow now about 8 secs to change between topics where it used to be in the blink of the eye, My broadband speed is also down about 10 Mbps, which may or may not be related.
