Unfortunately the museum has had to close today due to a burst water main nearby meaning that we have no water on site - sorry for the late notification! We will try to advise when we are able to re-open!!

Unfortunately we’re going to be closed again on Tuesday 17th September as the water supply has still not been repaired- sorry for any inconvenience this may cause - sadly the situation is out of our control!

Statement now on our website regarding the change of ownership of long term loaned Supermarine Swift WK277

http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/Swift_WK277

Best visit our Gateway Aviation Site soon to see it whilst it’s in our neck of the woods!

Who knows you may even glimpse the Viggen outside – briefly!! ;)

As of today I have no details to share regarding the likely timeframe involved.

Some planning work has taken place, and last week the Restoration Team confirmed that the Viggen tail folding mechanism is still functional; this is an important first step in the whole process. When this work is undertaken, it is likely that it will be done inside a working day.

Sorry that I cannot provide any firmer details at this point in time. When a date and time is fixed I will attempt to let people know.

I will see what can be done.

In other news - the first batch of the recently donated vintage pre-owned aircraft kits is now on sale in the Museum Shop – more to follow in due course; along with a selection of pre-owned aviation books!

No admission fee if you just want to shop – free parking right outside!

On this day 80 years ago (04.12.44) Stirling EF186, from 1661 HCU crashed near Grantham, while on a training flight from RAF Winthorpe.

The 9 flowering cherry trees in the Memorial Garden commemorate the airmen who were killed in the crash http://newarkairmuseum.org/Memorial_Garden
