Thanks Geoff, can't make it unfortunately. Start work at 14.00. Does anyone know if there is any military support units based at Carlisle, and if there is likely to be any JW related flying action over the week end.

2 Wildcats are on the ground next to the tower at Carlisle - sounded like a Yank or Canadian in the lead heli .

Stewart .
p.s for anyone looking out for the Turkish F-16's , they are using the a/a freq of 141.75 .

Danny / all

No ground support at Carlisle or anything JW planned. Wildcats came in as 2 formations. I went flying at 2 and taxied passed them on the ground. No serials as I was trying to keep on the yellow line. When airborne I was told that Spadeadam was cold however when flying just to the South of it along the A69 I saw 3 hawks low level flying in the range. Didn't see anyone's car I recognised at the airport.

Regards
Geoff

Hi Geoff ,
Callsign for the 3 Hawk's was Capture formation , they came in from the north west at low level & after passing Carlisle they would be heading for the lakes .
I also thought I heard the callsign Vortex 1 at Carlisle about the same time .

I've been down at Leeming for 3 days so have been used to the Capture callsign together with Cutthroat , Javelin , Savage & Aggresser , I even got bounced by a Hawk yesterday afternoon passing the Stainmore cafe on the way Home .

Stewart .

Seems the first 2 used Marine call sign and second 2, Cortex 11. One of them was ZZ389. Do you think you heard Cortex not Vortex?

Hi Stewart, Capture 3 Called up Carlisle ATC and requested a let down to low level from 5,000 in the Carlisle overhead to join Capture 1 & 2 who were already at low level over Spadeadam. Frank.

Hi Geoff did you take off before the 2 Grobs I was parked up near ECM, I was quite surprised to see first four light aircraft waiting to takeoff and after an interval
another three lined up as well as the Giro-copter..

The 4 Wildcats taxied from the dispersal down the disused and onto 07 and commenced a stream take off after gaining height turned left for West Freugh

Geoff, The Giro-copter after leaving the circuit went to land at Long town dis-used is that a disused airfield or is it part of the MU. Frank.

Frank, did you happen to get serials of the Wildcats? I was in G-BHFC C150. The Grobs had left about 30 mins before. There was 2 RV8s taxied out behind me.

Geoff,

I hope that was not you confusing "turning finals" when it was actually over the threshold, causing the Tutor to abort its take off :-)

I thought the Carlisle ATC handled the incident very professionally as did the RAF crew.
