Bit more information is a diamond 42, calling Gonzo is on this exercise & last night around 5pm on my planeplotter a Typhoon callsign Turbo 51 was in the area on task. Nothing found for wildcat interplane I have tried.

When I had a base visit in July, 2014 R8 had been completed, it can handle up to 8 Chinooks hot refuelling with the Oshkosh Tankers, there was talk that R 8 would be utilised on Helicopter Exercises1.

Wildcat Vagabond pair were using the range this afternoon for mix of threat environment testing, EW, Smokey Sam and a dazzle light(?). They are not using the gorge at the moment and I would be rather pleasantly surprised if they did next week. Photos will be posted in due course. One of the better days weatherwise at Spade including the Wildcats in something called sunshine!

Wildcat are based with FARP at Otterburn as I understand it.

Greetings from a bitterly cold Spadeadam.

1400-1430 "CARD51 Flight" 2x F-15 working multiple threats FL50-240. Not seen due to low cloud

1510 - "GAMBIT1" Chinook ZH903 just arrived and landed Berry Hill. Intentions unknown.

Chinook then faced multiple threats for at least 2 hours before recovering through the gorge! Nice end to the day :-)
