Having just spent three years studying in Leeds, I totally believe it is one of the UK's most underrated cities! It is culturally rich, diverse and vibrant with, as you say, a proud industrial heritage.
Leeds may not have the gothic charm of York or appear the innovative hub that the likes of Manchester are said to be becoming, but it is a wonderful city located within a county which I have found the locals to genuinely love. This for sure rubs off on the students, however transient we might appear, and I am extremely pleased to have spent so much time there away from my (significantly flatter) home in Suffolk.
Thanks for sharing.
