I'm thinking more dragonfly than damselfly, though as to what kind I have no idea. I'm no expert and I'm happy to be corrected.

Appears to be a Common Darter - species of dragonfly. Takes nothing away from the image though.
Out of interest what camera/lens combo did you use?

I had the Damsel/DragonFly debate when I put this on my Facebook, different people, different opinions.... Damsel Flies are smaller (which this was)but the way it's wings are when resting suggests DragonFly and I reckon Nighthawke is correct, thank you. Camera was an Eos 700D with a sigma 28-70 Macro zoom lens that I picked up really cheap (£60!) from Facebook flog it/Leg it section in Falmouth

Have to agree with Nighthawke it appears to be a Common Darter which is in the Dragonfly family, Damselflies have wings parallel with the body. Super shot though.
