The day before, Tower Bridge had opened to let a tall sailing ship through and got stuck in the open position for about 12 hours. Would lightning strike twice in the same place in two days?. No chance. The bridge opened on time to let the tall sailing ship the ‘Pelican of London’ through, to berth next to HMS Belfast, and then closed again once the tall ship was clear. Tower Bridge is due to lift at 17:15 on the 14th August to let the Pelican of London head down river to berth at South Quay, Canary Wharf until the 17th August.
