Cloudy Day on the Al Shafa Rd

Hi All,

Had a drive out to Al Shafa yesterday 4/01/2020. The weather around Al Shafa was decidely poor with a cloud base at around 7000' which was a problem as the road is at 7200'. Photographs at the summit were not worth the effort but as we came below the clouds the vista opened up and it was much better for photographs. Managed to test run my new 8mm Samyang lens and got some reasonable results. This area of Saudi Arabia is very green and lately with the rain we have had it looks quite picturesque even with the angry looking clouds. There is more to KSA than deserts. The road is extremely winding and steep and can be seen on Google Maps at 21.090847, 40.307952. Found an interesting sign showing the end of the road was 25m from the sign straight into a huge rock....... :D

Stunning scenery. Some impressive highway engineering there too - until the forward planning ran out!
