Some Cool Cloudscapes

Post by FTS » Wed Jul 02, 2014 9:45 am

These are a week old but i've only just got around to uploading them. The sky on Wednesday evening last week was pretty amazing with some very interesting and stunning cloudscapes. A few people enquired as to what I was taking photos of and when I sat the clouds I got the reply "oh yeah look at that!". It's amazing what you see if you look up and not shuffle around like zombies staring at the floor!

1. Thats not glare on the lens, it's the spectrum effect within the cloud. I don't know the technical/scientific name for it.

I Admit to loving clouds. When I started flying it was great to pick a cloud and head for it and watch it change as you got closer. Flying amongst them is totally amazing and have to admit now to being a bit of a cloud geek. I once had a very long conversation with a high altitude military pilot about clouds and realised it was kind of normal to appreciate them.

Nice photos of a great subject that most people take no notice of at all. Great pieces of cloud art. There is (if you havnt seen it) a cloud appreciation page on facebook for all sad people like me that enjoy clouds.

Yes, we noticed some spectacular clouds last Wednesday too in our area. I'm not sure where you're located?
It was interesting seeing how contrails were being dispersed at different rates, creating some unusual shapes.

Some nice captures there.
Cheers
