Garden birds and a little friend 01/05/2021
I had my second covid jab this morning so while waiting for the slight head ache to wear of i decided i would break out the camera and take a few shots of the birds using the feeders, using the car as a makeshift hide.
these are just a few of the resulting shots, i hope you enjoy looking.

Really nice post, those Goldfinches are fabulous.

For months I couldn't work out what was causing small holes in my garden. A couple of weeks ago the mystery was solved whan a field mouse appeared to grab seeds under the feeder. Looks like you have a similar opportunist. Nice shots, Mick.

Lots of Goldfinches in my garden too. The downside are the pigeons waiting for the dropped seeds of course. I paved the area underneath the feeders, because the pigeons were ruining the lawn!. Lovely pictures!.

Fantastic photos.
We have mice in our garden. They get quite trusting. I’ve not fed one by hand yet but I’ve placed food inches away and they’ve eaten it in front of me.
Ours are Wood Mice apparently according a friend (who is a nature buff and writes books on it) but they are supposed to be nocturnal. They aren’t.
Once after returning from a long weekend away I walked into the garden and there were probably 50 or more of them scurrying about looking for snacks because the bird food had run out. I’m not exaggerating either.
They are quite territorial and fight, you can hear the squeaking indoors with the windows shut. We have a large ‘flan dish’ with water in it if we keep an eye out sometimes there is as many as six drinking from it at the same time.
The numbers are kept in control by Rooks, Magpies, Jackdaws and the local Sparrowhawk. Plus our neighbour who’s not a fan.
Never had one inside though, poison in the attic just in case, never been touched.
