Comet Neowise.

Gents,

A couple shot between 23:00 and 23:30 last night in Suffolk looking North. The first one was a wide angle to try and find the damn thing as at that point I couldn't see it visually, despite knowing where too look. I found it on that first shot, in between the overhead cables and once I knew where to look I could just make it out visually. The light on the fields is a cars headlights that passed behind me on the road during the long exposure.





Even 20 minutes later, as the skies darkened, the comet became easier to see with the naked eye and by the time I got home only a few minutes later it could clearly be seen in a urban environment and from a residential street in a town.

Sure,

Canon Eos 7D MkII. First shot was at 18mm on a wide angle, 25 seconds on the tripod with a infra-red release, F5.6 and ISO 800. Second was at 33mm, with 15 seconds on the exposure to get it a little darker, rest the same. Obviously a manual focus. Hope that helps.

Gents,

Another effort last night. This time heading South towards Wattisham and using the corner of a field looking back North, Stowmarket is just to the right out of view. The comet is noticeably higher, as predicted by astronomers, but also I think fainter compared to five days ago. It is visible to the naked eye, but only just, and it's pretty a hazy blob and you need to know exactly where to look otherwise you'll never find it.







Aircraft was quite low, assume it was Stansted traffic as it was heading in that direction.



You don't necessarily need to be in the middle of nowhere with a tripod. Taken with the camera propped up on the roof of the car back home in front of the house in a residential street in Stowmarket.
