There's been a few weeks to let this issue settle whilst RAFAT have been away, it'll be interesting to see what develops on their return at the month end.
Critically observing Pension regulatory activity... :D

Please accept my apologises Redsnapper. Apparently I am still covered by the Official Secrets Act and therefore had to write the report in invisible ink. It could only be Red by those in the 'know'.

As a complete amateur regarding military movements I am very grateful to all those who post on F.C. I am however, disappointed to see the tones of elitism. How does one differentiate between 'proper' and 'so called' enthusiasts? The word 'Arrogance' was used earlier to describe people who think they have the right to park where they wish. I feel that true arrogance comes to the fore when people regard themselves as better than everyone else.

Couldn't agree more. I have been an enthusiast for over 35 years (not a proper one though) :P . Boards like this do contain the *Elite* as they like to think of themselves, people who know everything that we don't and these "proper enthusiasts" can't even spell. HEAR should be HERE.

John (WAVE), thanks for the info. The landowner at the other end (22) has a different view on spectators.

Elitism, arrogance by members of FC.? Not those that I have met. Knowledgable, friendly, helpful, kind to dumb animals. Or do I mean 'dumb to kind animals'?
Of course, in any cross-section of Society there are bound to be some planks.

:) and say "Hello" If you get no response, ignore them. Enjoy the aeroplanes.

Superb response!

John
That was the way we read it - we accessed via walking along the road having parked at the viewing point and then going in via the existing gap in the hedge by the fenceline corner. This avoids climbing over the gate/fence and potentially causing yourself injury or, more importantly, damaging the fence. ;) Seriously - the walk is just a few minutes longer and it gets you right to the relevant spot on the fence.

Thanks for the confirmation John. :D

I had a little run in with the landowner at 22 end last June when Lewis Hamilton was there with his F1 car. He's was complaining about vehicles being parked on the corner of his field, they belonged to the some Raf chaps that worked on camp that had came out of the camp to watch the filming of the race between Lewis and Red 10 as they weren't allowed to watch from on camp. He soon calmed down once they explained what was going on. This is the only time in 15 years going to Scampton that I've seen the said landowner. It maybe helps that my mate does lots of work for him so If I had any problems I'd ring him. :P

I also witnessed the parking at the 04 end over winter and it was getting a little silly with people just parking anywhere. I used to park up near the crash gate at the top of the dirt road but never in the way of said gate. People lately just didn't seem to use common sense maybe some of them are just members of the public and not aviation enthusiasts but I did see a few of the same cars quite regular, At least the farmer is still letting us walk in his field which is good.

I do prefer the 22 end depending which way they are taking off. I've spent many a freezing cold winters day at Scampton especially in the last 3 and abit years since I got my first dslr and changed jobs, I'm quite lucky in being able to get up there quite a lot but it can be lonely in middle of winter all on me own. :'(

Hello scotty2681, you have heard of the saying "ships that pass in the night"? Since the October prior to the Harriers leaving home I too have spent many very cold days up around the airfield. Great viewing.

Hello C24, I've probably spoken to you and not known who it is. Its great watching the winter training listening to the 2nd year pilots giving the FNGs some tips over the radio and watching the build up of the formation. Its even better in the summer at an air show wearing shorts and t-shirt rather than wholly hat, gloves etc.

Hi Scotty, it certainly is the best value for money out there, just my opinion but nice to know there are others who offer moral support for the training involved
I will wear a Red carnation in my woolly hat cum October ;) enjoy the shows.
