As the home office clear out continues (I can nearly move in here now!) I have decided to sell two old lenses that I have knocking around - bargains I think and perfect for anyone who collects this kind of stuff and / or maybe people starting out.
The first one is a Sigma 400mm F5.6 APO. This is an old lens in its original box and case and is a well made and immaculate piece of kit. It has NOT had the alteration made which allows it to work unhindered on Canon EOS digital cameras and used to be attached a Canon EOS film camera (which I still have!). However, I have just given it a blast on my 40D in Av mode (set to 5.6) and it worked well with only one Err code which requires an on/off for the camera.
Here's an image of the lens and one taken out of my office window (through the glass):

I'll be honest with you, it's never going to be as quick or as sharp or as reliable as the newer versions or something like the Canon 100-400 - but that's why you'd pay £700+ for something like that while I'm asking for £80 for it inc P&P. Well worth a try and you know what, if it doesn't work for you or you get round to getting something a lot better, stick it in the loft and it might be worth a few quid in years to come.
Secondly is something which I'm told is quite rare. A Canon 50-200 EF zoom lens. This again was used on my old EOS film camera which dates it as being pretty old, but it works perfectly on my 40D. A little research has shown that these lenses are pretty hard to find these days and it has it's plus and minus points. It's a push / pull zoom like the 100-400 and the action feels pretty good for an old lens and is an immaculate piece of glass with the body also in great condition. USM wasn't invented in these days however so, while the AF works, it is very slow and I have found the lens is much better used manually for focusing. Having said that, it's a very versatile focal length and easy to carry around so in certain circumstances the speed won't really be an issue. Described in one review as:
Canon 50-200/3.5-4.5L: The little brother to the 100-300/5.6L: compact, dark, slow-focusing, and optically excellent. It could be a bargain on the used market.
Here she is:

Very tough to put a value on this one but I'll go for £80 again and you know what, if anyone wants them both you can have them for £150. I sound like Del Boy now!
PM to register interest or secure - first come, first served.
Cheers

PS I'm at Coningsby on Wednesday if any of you chaps are interested!
