Phantoms and Lightning, re-heat and spray. That was the arrivals day for that iconic meeting to say farewell to 56 Squadrons "Firebirds" Phantoms.
Saturday's weather gets talked about, but Fridays were truly cyclonic...
I have just found these in my slide collection. I' am not sure that the slides are not still damp nearly thirty years later?

I hope they are of interest.

Re: Phantasmagoria, Firebirds and Tigers.
Very much so.Hard to beat the Lightning and Phantom.
Re: Phantasmagoria, Firebirds and Tigers.
I like your pix that you have posted, but have a query on FGR.2 - XT806 - which you have as ex 36 & 56 Squadron but there was not an XT806
so therefore I think you must mean XT906 which a BARG report for this event has it as Unmarked - coded.P - ex 56 Squadron also I have no knowledge of 36 Squadron as flying the F4 so you could possibly mean 31 Squadron
I obviously have no idea of your age group, but I personally go back to my first sightings of the UK - F4's at Farnboro.68, following this later when the 1st Squadrons were then forming namely - 6 & 54 + OCU at Coningsby
I did cover the end of RAF flying at Wattisham, with the F4 - Photo-Call ( 07.09.1991 ) the 56 Stand Down ceremony ( 01.07.1992 ) the Photo-Call Arrivals ( 03.07.1992 - yes I was there in that Rain )
the 74 - mini Tiger Meet Arrivals ( 14.09.1992 ) *which I found to be a bit Iconic as there were 74(R) Hawks even though 74 had not yet stood down on the F4
AND LASTLY the 74 - Stand Down ( 01.10.1992 ) End of an Era In at the beginning and the End
would also like to add that later on in my working days that I did 2years with II ( AC ) Squadron as a civvy toolstores operative and that my FS was ex 56 - 74 at Wattisham on the F4 and also a Phantom Phanatic
so we got on well
so therefore I think you must mean XT906 which a BARG report for this event has it as Unmarked - coded.P - ex 56 Squadron also I have no knowledge of 36 Squadron as flying the F4 so you could possibly mean 31 Squadron

Thank you Weazel69, if I had pressed save after my final edit, the correction would have been made, Lol.Weazel69 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:23 amI like your pix that you have posted, but have a query on FGR.2 - XT806 - which you have as ex 36 & 56 Squadron but there was not an XT806

Glad to hear that somebody else braved that Friday's arrivals, I did not see anybody all day, but then I did sit in the back of the van nursing my 500mm lens and hoping for the best. You never really knew with slides until they were developed.
Re: Phantasmagoria, Firebirds and Tigers.
looking back at my records it shows all I took that day were the 32ndFS - F15 - 77-105 & 74 Squadron - F4's - XV497/W XV465/S XV487/G XV474/Jfisherman wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 10:43 amThank you Weazel69, if I had pressed save after my final edit, the correction would have been made, Lol.Weazel69 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:23 amI like your pix that you have posted, but have a query on FGR.2 - XT806 - which you have as ex 36 & 56 Squadron but there was not an XT806
