If you are looking for military stuff, forget it, there might be a couple of Tier 2 or Tier 3 suppliers with regard to avionics, sensor systems, but that is about it.

So there will not be any helicopters on display like last year, in fact it will be more on dronex . I have been told by the organisers when I rang as they cited Excel Centre decision as theres no provisions to bring in aircraft, due to several events happening at the same time.

I am in the helicopter industry for quarter of a century and first attended Helitech in its last year at Redhill (aptly known as Wellytech lol) they moved it to up here at Duxford. For decade it was great show, able to fly in and 50 plus aircraft there, including some mil stuff in 2009 and 2011 show.. Suggestions from one of the OEMS was to bring the show into London as it be easier access from likes of LHR and LGW, unfortunately one downside is you cannot have people flying in en masse due to where excel is and LCY movements. Thankfully the 2013, 2015, 2017 shows had backings of the OEMS and there were helicopters from each one.

Bearing in mind the OEMS pulled out of supporting Helitech 4 years ago, and with the new show organisers, Prysm...thankfully they were able to get Castleair Leonardo AW109S Grandnew air ambulance and a corporate operator AW109 Trekker for the 2021 show.

Unfortunately last year due to the outside of the Excel being dug up...they were no helicopters flown in and pulled into the exhibition hall. Only thing was ex Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Lynx brought in b Haywards Insurance (their partners are returning a couple of retired Lynx HAS6 back to airworthiness, with help from Historic Helicopters).

if you want to see mil helos at Excel, pop along to a vantage point before DSEI in a fortnight.

cheers

Just cottoned on - DSEI is different to Helitech and starts on 12/9

DSEI is usually quite good with a couple of US Army choppers and perhaps a wildcat

Be aware that the phase 3 extension works at ExCel have removed the Eastern Car Park and new roof structure in place that may limit or prevent any helicopter attendees other than on ships - HMS IRON DUKE should be good for a Wildcat.

True

Last DSEI outside

12th CAB - Boeing AH-64D, CH-47F, Sikorsky UH-60M
Northrop Grumman MQ-8C Firescout

Inside exhibition hall

Leonardo AW149NMH

and think AAC AH-64.

Yep and HMS Iron Duke, is now in Bordeaux with HM King Charles visiting on board with Queen Camilla, the Navy escort, is one of the engineering officers on board and he was our escort during DSEI. Anyhow Leonardo managed to put in thier green AW149 NMH demonstrator, in the hall, fortnight before so they could build the booth around, and every other exhibitor set theirs up. Last time I saw this green demonstrator was FArnborough Air Show 2016, where they had this and the grey demonstrator as major news was adding all up weight of AW149.

BAE Systems managed to put EUrofighter Typhoon outside the main entrance, as their colleagues told me it was quite a challenge, I made a joke about a STOVL version lol of the Typhoon.

Cheers
