The remains of the fuselage of XW225, left the Newark Air Museum on the 10th by road to go to Beckingham Ranges which is only about 3 miles from NAM. South Mimms is one heck of a detour, but perhaps it was taken somewhere else for further work before being placed on the range?

Conversely, what is the probability of two Pumas being road runners the same day?

Happy to confirm that XW225 went straight to Beckingham; transport came from Wittering & it (transport) was due to return there after off-loading!

Addendum: transport arrived at Newark just before 1300 hours!

Thanks Howard.

Perhaps then, another Puma has gone from Benson to Marham for painting, as did XW216 on 12 Oct (although it wasn't bare metal when in went there). XW216 is back and flying (including today) - must look out to see if it is in anything other than standard drab dark green!

It's also worth noting that XW225 was still in olive drab overall.

I believe some Pumas were having paint stripped at Marham, before going for deep maintenance at Benson (or maybe) Kidlington??

Might explain it....?
