Re: some Hawk Servicing Flight movements late 4/18
Thanks for your correction re AMRO not HSF. AMRO= Aircraft Maintenance & Repair Organisation?? Use of differential braking is what I meant - my phrasing was perhaps misleading in this instance implying there was a standalone NWS (sub) system as per Typhoon within its landing gear system. I apprecia...

Re: F-22 wheels up landing
I read a slightly different account of the incident in that the pilot was a bit premature in raising the undercarriage.slogen51 wrote:Photos in the web of an AK Raptor at NAS Fallon after it apparently suffered a loss of power and landed safely with the wheels up.

Re: 6 Ex RAF Tristars sold to US company
Interesting news, I just wonder where they are going to get pilots and Flight Engineers from as there haven't been any L-1011s flying for some time now and probably most previous crews are well out of qualifications by now. I also suspect each aircraft will require some sort of extensive flight tes...

Re: Barksdale dispersal pans upgraded for nuclear QRA
I guess it's only me being a boring old f..t, but I wish people would spell Britain's finest airliner with an 'e' on the end. It's CONCORDE, and always has been!!!. Heaven knows everybody must have seen it in print!!. It was spelt Concord until the French had a hissy fit and insisted it had an e ad...

Re: bruntingthorpe lightnings
Yeah its a valid point, and it does answer my question, but maintaining one rather than a whole squadron would surely make the job easier of spotting potential faults, plus with today’s tech, i'm sure they could so some slight re-engineering to improve its faults, I’m not talking about redesigning ...

Re: Jets on takeoff general question
F3's and T5's did sometimes take off without the use of reheat in order to prolong the sortie by a few minutes. F6's always used reheat due to the heavier weight of the aircraft. As did Lightnings I believe. At least I never saw one takeoff without at my local, Binbrook.
