Re: BBC Points West deployment report

As someone who for work goes airside on a number of sites I can confirm that following any unusual aircraft activity at a site I'm picking up the above items on FOD checks for the deployment and at least 2 weeks after. So it's quite simple 1. Take your rubbish home or you may end up killing a crew. ...

Re: The Tutor Fleet

The Airfield is south of the M4 and the main runway is grass here which is sandwiched between 2 solar farms.and usable in the summer only. 05/23 and 17/24 are limited width and fun in a crosswind as the areas to either side are fairly broken up and have vegetation growing on it. Just over the M4 to ...

Excalibur test bed for Tempest 6th gen fighter

Apologies for the military purists here as it's a commercial plane. An interesting article on the development of our home grown 6th gen fighter. Leonardo and 2Excel are modifying a commercial Boeing 757-200 airliner to act as a flying laboratory called Excalibur. Still nice to see that dispite simul...

Future of West Walton aviation museum up in air

Possible another loss due to the site being sold from underneath the museum.to a local developer with only 2 years left on the lease. If anyone knows of a site that would be suitable with about 2/3 acre please contact them. Full story here https://www.lynnnews.co.uk/news/future-of-aviation-museum-up...

Just like to say that when you sign up.You sign up to serve wherever in the world that might be.I have seen individuals throw there teddy bears on the floor to try to get what they want.It doesn't work as there are plenty more who want to get on and learn new skills. Therefore it may produce a small...

The M55 motorway, at Weeton was used as a temporary runway before it was opened to the public. They used a Jaguar GR1 taking off from nearby Warton airfield on 26th April 1975, it landed on the motorway, loaded four cluster bombs before departing. I expect there will be some delay to these if they operate from here.Planning for the new building included provision for the Wedgetail. A purely drone hangar will be a much smaller affair and will have to go through the legislative hurdles again.

Chinese Area 51

China is developing its own Area-51. Interesting article around the development of a number of sites in China for drone, stealth and 6th Generation aircraft development. Significant works have been noted at Malan Air Base and Lop Nur Air base in Xinjiang. These like Area 51 are in former nuclear test...
