Re: Missing Serials 1982
Hi Gary,
Thanks very much for that.
The two OV-10s are a definite (Mildenhall '81 and Greenham '80), but the Dominie is a (my last one - just in case the smilies didn't give that away).
Regards,
Bob

Re: Missing Serials 1982
Hi TM74, A very good theory - particularly as (I've only just noticed that) XV760/F and XV804/O were logged again at St. Athan in the Flight LIne along with XZ998/J and XW922/K. Perhaps the Harriers for both shows all went to Abingdon first? Oh well, the 6th one will remain a mystery, but I can at l...

Re: Missing Serials 1982
Hi TM74, Thanks for the reply. Sadly, I already had logged the SHAR and these six were all in a line together. The only thing I can think of is that it was very early in the day and this was a visitor that departed. We were on our way to St. Athan for their BOB and Abingdon was very much a flying vi...

Re: SAR Sea King callsign
Rich,
You are right, of course. I set finger to keyboard a trifle too quickly. All RAF and FRADU TT.18s went in the early '90s.
The description of the TT undersides remains intriguing, though.

Re: SAR Sea King callsign
If the underside markings were like those in the last but one photo of viewtopic.php?f=18&t=88241, then it would have been a target tower TT.18 model from 100 Sqdn, not a PR model.

Missing Serials 1982
Hi All, I'm gradually working my way backwards through my remaining old logs and have found the following missing serials: 1. 26/02/1982 Mildenhall MC-130E SOS 2. 18/05/1982 Linton-on-Ouse 2 x A-10 o/s 3. 04/07/1982 Heathrow CC-137 CAF 4. 28/08/1982 Alconbury OV-10A 601TCW 83809 5. 05/09/1982 Milden...

Re: Caernarfon Air Museum 08.09.2013
Being pedantic  - sorry, Scorch998 - the Hunter F.1 is actually W T 694, which used to be on the gate at RAF Newton. It is one of only two aircraft in this Museum that I have seen - the other being the Harrier T.2. Must get round to going there some time. Lovely photos of lovely machines. :...

Re: RAF Wattisham 1983, thirty years ago!
The Varsity was one of the old 5FTS ones from RAF Oakington. Most of these got scattered to fire dumps across the country in 1974/75.
In 1983, in theory, the Canberra B(I).8 XM275 should still have been on the dump. Does anybody remember?

Perhaps also consider the claim of their other old bases of Thorney Island (where the type was introduced with 242OCU), Colerne (where they were serviced until 1976), Changi (48 Sqdn - the first operational squadron) and Cyprus (70 Sqdn). Though I don't know if the runways could now take them at the...

New E-11A 12-9506
I have not seen this posted elsewhere on FC, so if a fellow FC member has done so, please accept my apologies. On 21 September 2013, VELCRO5 - the last E-11A 12-9506 (ex N9506G) - routed over the UK to land at Schiphol at 19.50Z. It carried the serial 29506 and had no extra bulges. It departed at 10...

F-15s Deployed to Norway + unknown F-16
Does anybody have, or can point me to, a list of the serials of the Lakenheath F-15s that deployed to Norway during the base closure? I was staying on the "Beck Row Hunter" campsite and saw them (or some) return on 30th September. However, I have heard conflicting stories about the number involved. ...

Hi JETNOISE, I can add a few more to the list from my own 1982 sightings: B-10 ZA548 17/05/1982 and 21/05/1982 B-12 ZA540 08/10/1982 G-34 43+23 21/05/1982 and 08/10/1982 G-73 43+20 21/05/1982 and 08/10/1982 - obviously changed later on (to above) G-74 43+24 21/05/1982 and 08/10/1982 G-76 43+26 21/05...

On another occasion I stopped on the way back from Gairloch to give the crew of an Army Gazelle directions that I found at the side of the road(zero/zero visibility), they were lost - seriously lost. You gave them directions that you found at the side of the road??  Really, Mike....no wo...
