Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020
With Merkel announcing Germany will not be making the required payments to the NATO budget, I doubt POTUS will close the Hall in favour of a German base. I predict another 6 years of this administration, and further predict the move will not take place. One thing is certain, Brussels will NOT be off...

Re: SAP/"Black" project aircraft sightings in the UK!
A post from a member from another forum. Straight paste. This goes back to 25th September 1994. I had just returned from the former-Yugoslavian-republic-in-development-of-whatever and at this stage I was based at RAF Marham, and living off base renting two rooms in Hill House cottages approximately ...

Have you never seen the footage of RN Scimitars displaying at Farnborough with simultaneous formation landings from opposite ends of the runway?

Re: XX741 engine runs and taxi
Still some work to do yet. Announcements will be made in due course via the Museum website/Facebook page. It is intended that it will be available for fast taxi runs and photo shoots. Anybody got an AN/ALQ-101 pod? We have all the pylons, tanks and a Phimat.

Al is a hell of a guy, has us in stitches with some of his stories.
He took the Hog to Gunsmoke 81, and won outright. He went back in 83 and successfully defended his crown. They stopped inviting him after that.

Re: B-52 re-engine competition to start early 2019
What, no spares!! 608 required = 76 aircraft x 8 engines - no more, no less. I thought that they were looking at a four engine configuration instead of the current eight? Can't be done. Lack of rudder authority. At present a 7 engine approach is classed as an emergency due to the asymmetric thrust ...

Some fantastic stuff here. Please thank Lynn for her efforts. Some images bolster our archive at Bentwaters. I shall keep an eye on this, and credit will be given to her and her father.

Re: USAF Gives go ahead for B-52 Re-engining
They will have to go for 8 engines again. There is insufficient rudder authority for a 4 engined machine if you lose an engine.

Re: Mildenhall Memories
I did every show from 76 onwards. 76 was HOT. I remember they announced we had drunk 15 TONS of beer by 11am. Come 3pm, the base was DRY - everything was gone. The only drink was water from the two standpipes under the water towers. The smell of kerosene and barbecues. Jet noise and sunburn. Will we...

Apart form the pleasure watching these wonderful aircraft, from 78 to 82 to worked for a freight agency who held the contract for HMG. Re: Russia / NATO Tensions
On the Russia Today, an English language news channel (Sky 512), they appeared to be concerned that American troops are learning Russian. One of their studio experts suggested this implied America is planning an invasion! I suspect RT was pulling an April Fool. The Russian sense of humour is very l...
