Re: Four helis over Keevil 28/3/17

ZM401 was showing on my Plane Plotter mobile while I was driving through the lanes although I didn't as such see it.

Re: Four helis over Keevil 28/3/17

Thanks Mark, they were a very long away away for sure, the Chinooks are unmistakeable but the "Merlins" could well have been Pumas.

Four helis over Keevil 28/3/17

Hi all, was driving through the lanes at approx. 1230 BST when two pairs of helis went over well to my east. Both pairs were at extreme distance, first pair looked like Merlins and behind them, a pair of Chinooks, presumably participants in the Keevil exercise. Can anyone shed any light on the regis...

"EZ-A009" Merlin over Devizes

Call sign WHE6, showing on FR24 as a 737 with the above reg, showing on ADSB Exchange as EZ-S715, this went across Devizes about an hour ago and is currently over St Albans. Any one know if this is EZ-S715 or another ship please?

Re: Yeovilton Sea Kings 1995

Hi Alan

Air Britain has those codes as..

VJ - ZF121
VK - ZE428
VM - ZA295
VN - ZG822

The online photos for each frame were all taken in the mid 90's and all the codes and registrations check out as 846 Squadron

Re: Quick visit to Culdrose 26/1/17

OK, thanks for the explanation although it seems rather daft to me to post a log on one part of the forum and then post the photos elsewhere. Thanks to a pal on another forum who tied in the registrations for me. Sea King coded "132" - XV657 Harriers ZE692 coded "92" ZH802 coded "02" ZH804 coded "00...

Re: Quick visit to Culdrose 26/1/17

Hi Josh & Seafire, thanks for your comments. is there a specific reason why photos aren't welcome here or do ALL photos have to be posted in a certain part of the forum? More than happy to comply, but I really can't understand why anyone would get ratty about it.

Quick visit to Culdrose 26/1/17

A really cold and blustery day so didn't stay long. Two Hawks departed together XX303 & XX330 (?), other than that, nothing much happening. One Merlin parked outside ZJ128 coded "M" and a Sea King and four Harriers parked in the centre of the field, along with two F-35 mock ups. A couple of shots, a...

2 x Merlins over Devizes 1425gmt today

Can anyone help please? Two Merlins flew very low over the town, heading southwest towards Melksham/Trowbridge this afternoon. Nothing on Plane Plotter or ADSB Exchange probably because they were so low. Thanks to anyone who might be able to help ID them.

A400 north of Devizes heading west

Can anyone help with an ID please? Was out walking with the dogs at Coate near Devizes at around 1515 when I clearly made out an A400 heading west about five miles to my north. None of the mobile radar apps could put a reg to it although PlanePlotter reckoned it was an A400 and ADSB Exchange gave ca...

Re: Will it work on a Canon 750D

Hi John, I use that same Sigma lens on both my Canon 700D and 60D with what I think are great results. Beware, though, it's a heavy bit of kit and with the lens hood on isn't far short of 16" long at maximum zoom. I too have found best results at around 450mm. Nice lens and well worth the money.

Re: Changes to the UK Heads Up, Movements & OTT section acce

Maybe you should re-read my previous posts on this thread slogen51 and then tell me where " I have put the boot into the old FAB forum" because I can't see where. I was using it as an example of how constant meddling by the forum owners eventually leads to members leaving of their own accord or bein...

Re: Changes to the UK Heads Up, Movements & OTT section acce

Thanks Bob, I can only speak for the members on our forum who regularly contact me to say, "sorry, we have nothing to post, we aren't mobile, and even if we did manage to get out and about, there's always someone who would beat us to it ( posting a log, etc). I don't believe these guys have a "take,...

Re: Changes to the UK Heads Up, Movements & OTT section acce

As a former member of the now (almost ) dead in the water Farnborough Aviation Group forum, I can understand why some members feel the way they do about a minimum post count criterion. The forum owner on the old FAB group was always complaining about non-posting members and would implement fresh rul...

Re: taking photos help please

I invested in the Sigma 150-500mm lens that the link in the post above takes you to. I've been very impressed with it and have taken some great shots ( their words, not mine...) of OTTs as high as FL400 that have been clear as a bell. It's joined to a Canon EOS 700D and sometimes my EOS 60D. I also ...
