Re: Libya Update Thread - 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??

Do we have any contacts Fairford way that could shed any light on probability of op's there, B2's and the like? Cheers Pune Do you honestly think anyone in the know would say so on an open forum? Anyway the United States are keen to take a step back from this asap and there is no need to forward de...

Re: Libya: Who's with us?

So this is why people did not see Qatar or UAE get stuck in with the first few days of strike activity to make the airspace available to police during the No Fly Stage. Again, Saudi Arabia would (coming in this late of a stage) provide F-15Cs for Policing role. Qatari jets were over Libya during th...

Re: Libya Update Thread - 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??

Listening to the news over the last few days, I'm shocked at the poor quality of reporting both from poor information and the apparent lack of basic communication skills ie: poor spoken grammar, stuttering and spluttering and so on.

Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??

Sky news just said it crashed due to engine failure, not sure if that is just speculation tho, they showed a Lakenheath F15E taking off but not sure if that was old footage, are Lakeneath Eagles at Gioa or are they US based Eagles on deployment there? Cheers, glad both are safe Lakenheath Eagles ar...

Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??

What's the CSAR capability in theatre ..anyone know? USS Kearsage has Seahawks on board, the Canadian frigate has a Sea King, and I'm sure that the other USN Ships have a few helicopters to add. I dare say the Kearsage has CH53's and/or MV22's onboard along with a Marine Recon det. The Italians hav...

Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??

Just caught a brief glimpse of the RAF Typhoons taxying on BBC News. Did one still have `tags` hanging from the weapons :S I'm sure someone in the know will clarify, but I believe it is known as Last Chance, Arm/De Arm, EOR (end of the runway)? The tags/pins are removed at that point. http://www.f-...

Re: 48 hours for Libyan Freedom ??

I was under the impression that since the First Gulf War and the videos of captured aircrew it wasn't deemed appropriate to identify. I know that when I was in Iraq I was told never to have any faces or names tags etc etc... in any photos that I was taking.

The bonus of using such a weapon is they can launched well out over the Med, thus hopefully avoiding any Air Defences. Re: B2s used over libya

Tanker support was stacking up across the Atlantic so it was an educated guess that a Global Air Power mission was on it's way.

I wonder if the US will unleash the B52 ??
