Re: Coltishall early 80's

I think your 'Beef' is "Yosemite Sam", one of five 'H's at Marham for the "Giant Strike/Double Top" bombing competition, 1981? I got them over Warton Crag, Morecambe Bay at 500ft. Unfortunately I haven't got the techno to post my slides onto the Forum. Never got to Coltishall on my travels back the...

Re: Coltishall early 80's

Hi John :P Great memories from my beloved Colt  Ah, the days spent at Scottow crash gate or near the runway lights at Hautbois watching proper Lightnings, then Jags :'( So many exchanges back then, so plenty of ‘exotics’ to spot, as your post proves  Thanks for those :thumb: Paddyboy :...

Re: Coltishall early 80's

Thanks for you appreciative comments, nice to share the memories. I am afraid The airfield is now housing a prison and solar panels though a new Heritage centre had just opened. It was a gut wrenching blow when earmarked for closure.

Coltishall early 80's

You cannot argue that Coltishall was a great place to spot, always plenty of base Jaguars flying and good selection of visitors, you never knew what to expect. It was my local airfield and I did spend a lot of my spare time there with other local spotters who were more than welcome to share info on ...

Very nice set and envious of all the fast jet action there, agree with many others the Mirage 2000 definitely best looking aircraft.

Re: RAF Watton in the 60's

Regarding 831 NAS being based at Watton, it was jointly based at Culdrose too. According to the book, British Museum Aircraft which was published more than 40 years ago and looking at some individual aircraft histories, the following are still around. Gannet ECM.6 XG797 at Duxford was with the unit...
