Re: Tonka BZN.

Doubt if they are wx diverts...although they all seemed to route in from a northerly direction, there are plenty of other RAF stations/airports between, that they could have gone into.....presume it's a planned visit/exercise etc

Re: US aviation takes a hit

Saw a reporter on BBC News 24 earlier, saying that at least 6 USMC AV8s had been destroyed/badly damaged.....seems like the insurgents had explosives strapped to them and detonated themselves by the a/c involved......reporter also said that some of the insurgents were wearing fake US army uniforms!.....

Re: RAF Typhoon Scrambles 2nd Intercept in Olympics

First scramble was for a Thompson/Thomas Cook? aircraft that took ages to switch from Brest control to London control,so effectively went out of comms......one Typhoon was scrambled from Northolt, but then QRA was called off as it got airborne

Wouldn't have expected anything less!....spent many a happy time flying on VC10s and cannot recall experiencing a bad landing......will be a very sad day when she no longer graces our skies!

Re: Windshield testing.

British Aerospace at Weybridge had a windshield testing facility when i worked there in 70s.....used to fire chickens of various weights and multiples,(could fire up to six small sized birds,if memory serves me well),at a whole range of speeds. Remember Jaguar windshields being tested there and i'm ...

Re: New VC10 tail art

How about a new campaign to get Dilligaf's avatar put onto the fin of a Voyager......underneath could be written "Brize Norton...home of the RAF's heavy twins".......i'm sure that would turn heads wherever it went!!!

Re: Fate of ZD950?

Raised the fate of ZD949 in Jan 2011 on FC and was told that withdrawing it wouldn't happen re the money spent on the upgrade!....reality then arrived at MOD so no point in spending vast sums on modern avionic upgrades, whilst the rest of the fleet is 30 years old,and seems to "fall apart" on a regul...

Big Yellow Fence 25 End

Does anyone know if the new Yellow post type fence that has sprung up at the 25 end in the past week or so, is a going to be a permanent feature?,or is it still a "work in progress",to be filled in,(ala Heathrow) at a later date?. Certainly gives a great view over the airfield and stops the old cras...

Re: Flypast, Westminster 24APR12
