Re: Germany will buy 5 P-8 MPAs
Like the assumed “typo” in the 3rd paragraph of the Naval Post....basically, that the German Navy is eager to get the “never” version of the P-8!.....Long live the Orion

Re: RRR4500 ZM406
One of those multi destination trips!.....picked it up on Adsb out of Ottawa and followed it into JB Andrews, where it was only on the ground for 30-40 mins. Out of there, initially headed west, before turning south. Last I was able to track it,it was southbound over Florida, somewhere south of Tampa....

Biden has just made his first foreign policy speech in which he has “reversed” the withdrawal of some US military forces from Germany, as proposed by Trump!. Be interesting how this plays out with the future of Mildenhall and other US assets in Europe.

Re: New Wedgetail surveillance fleet to be based at RAF Lossiemouth
Despite what "Widow Krankie" says,Scotland,(if it ever became independent from the rest of the U.K.),would probably need to both adopt the Euro and display "fiscal stability" in its own right as a country in order to trade/become an EU member....SNP's default position post devolution!! With regard t...

Re: US out of Open Skies
As these two aircraft are decades old and would require a lot of modifications to both aircraft and systems etc, would it not be more feasible for the US,(if they did want to rejoin),to use the same model airframes used in production of the P-8 and fit two of those out with the appropriate hardware/s...

Re: Army, Navy, RAF severe cuts
Looks as though the Royal Navy will benefit most with new Destroyers/Frigates etc, especially as we now need protection for the "Flat Tops" when on deployment!. MoD still has a £13bn black hole to fill, and apparently much of this is going to have to come from existing resources and capabilities!. Sti...

Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020
Having seen a lot of news coverage of Biden over the past week or so,future decision making seems to be a "mixed bag". He is reported to be keen to rebuild bridges with Germany after Trump somewhat called them out for thier defence spending etc! On the other hand, Biden seems to be more sceptical of...

Re: SR-71's at RAF Akrotiri
Having spent many a time watching SR-71s at Mildenhall,I cannot recall one ever taking off and going "near vertical". More often than not it was a reasonable climb rate at speed. Assume that the M-B forum member is confusing it with the U-2

Re: Russian Spy Ships Near RAF Lossiemouth
Sheikhy, Thanks for your detailed reply! You are probably right that I could be a decade out, or have attributed the wrong aircraft type to the story! Having started working at LHR for BA in 1974 I know that this particular incident was widely known about in and around the airport and reported in th...
