Re: US 'deployment' to VL
USS Theodore Roosevelt, along with the USS Winston S Churchill, due into Stokes Bay and Portsmouth respectively,on Sunday 22nd until the 27th That's a week of flying lost if the a/c stay onboard the carrier which at the beginning of a deployment I can't see happening, so I would say there is a very...

Re: UK F35 procurment
I was told when 15(R)Sqn finally leave Lossie that 29(R)Sqn will relocate from Coningsby, with a 6th operational Typhoon Sqn forming at Coningsby. Or it may be a case of leaving 29(R) where they are and forming the new Sqn at Lossie.

Are we likely to see these venture away from the English East coast ranges during their stay, as Tain is very nice this time of year for gunnery practice

Re: Marine killed by Hawk at Yuma
I believe that's the Korean designation for it - looks rather charred so have to wonder why there was a vehicle remotely close! A quote from someone at Yuma which explains..... " the T-59 came in to land as normal and suddenly lost power. The pilot tried to throttle up but never gained control of t...

Re: Soon To Be History-RAF SAR Cover
government gets rid of all the great good aircraft that have nothing wrong with them. Nothing wrong them? You couldn't be further off the mark with regards the Sea King. As far back as 2002 the Sea King fleet have been hanging on by a thread. If I remember correctly around about 2002 the RAF didn't...

Re: Soon To Be History-RAF SAR Cover
I heard that the Inverness based SAR detachment was changing to the S-92, as it's better suited to mountain flying. There is currently 2(I believe) S-92's at Inverness with a third to join as the training will eventually be carried out from there as well. Surprised they aren't doing a hand over peri...

Re: Dubai arrests
Why would anyone risk spotting in an Arab country in the first place, then add in the fact that the country is currently involved in offensive operations against a large terrorist group that will stop at nothing to try and justify their cause. The spotters involved have no one but themselves to blam...

Interesting to see that they're converting both 'A' & 'C' versions at the same time, I thought it was going to be 'A's only at first.

Re: Egypt buys 24 Rafale
If you Google Earth Abu Suwayr AB, you can clearly see 8 F-4's in the HAS complex middle South of the base, there is also a ninth F-4 outside the large Hangar on the West of the base. I highly doubt there are the numbers mentioned above still being active as there are several stored airframes dotted...

Re: Egypt buys 24 Rafale
Where does he live, Egypt or beside Cairo West? I've looked into this and it seems that there is a lot of construction and upgrading work currently going on at Cairo West(has been for the last 2 years) for the arrival of the Peace Vector VII Blk 52 F-16's. It looks like the F-4's may have bolt holed...

Your US Navy ship is a Ticonderoga class Guided Missile Cruiser so it should be either the USS Bunker Hill or the USS Lake Champlain which are both currently assigned to the Carl Vinson Battle Group.

Re: The World's Most Secretive 737
Nothing secret about the aircraft, although the equipment on board probably is. The a/c operates away from public eyes so is very seldom seen that's all. If it was that secret they would hardly fly it down Death Valley at 7000ft in clear skies during the day.

Re: The World's Most Secretive 737
It was converted from a standard USAF T-43 Gator a/c, which has already been pointed out made it's first flight back in 1973/74Snoop 95 wrote:If its been around since 2001 I am surprised that they appear to have used quite an old airframe going by the engines.
