Re: Ocean Sky 2023 Gando AB, Gran Canaria

Greek _and_ Turks in one exercise? ;-) Nothing new here! The 'Ample Train' series of inter-Air Force cross-servicing exercises ran from way back! In 1993 & 1997 there were such Exercises held at RAF St Mawgan.....& brilliant they were too! :thumb: Whilst I'm certainly not saying that Greeks worked ...

Re: Japanese Coast Guard collision

The Coast aircraft being reported as a Dash-8. Not sure they even have Dash 8 aircraft? More likely to be a Bombardier 300 "Shimataka" which is visually similar. Apparently involved in Earthquake Aid Supplies to the Ishikawa area. Currently 5 of 6 crew on the Japanese Coast Guard thought to have pe...

The future looks bleak for another Air Fete show at RAF Mildenhall The future of one of the largest air shows in Europe looks uncertain after being cancelled for a ...

Re: 2x converter for canon 70-200ml f2.8 EF lens

C'mon OP. Tell us which route you're going then? If it was me in your position I would sell your EF-70-200 /2.8 ( IS/ MkII??) & go for a Canon EF100-400 MkII & an EF-1.4 TC MkIII giving you the option of an effective 160-640 on your (Assumed?) APS-C 1.6 crop sensor Body? Fine examples of both items ...

Re: Fitting Farewell - Radom 23

I'm having trouble identifying a single shot taken on-base. That allied to your narrative "and avoiding the chaos on base" leads me to believe you shot from the Approach & Skaryszewska Street? Clever planning & the best decision you made to get this excellent set of varied images. Second best choice...

Re: Just a few snaps around the UK this year.......

Echo the previous comments by binbrook87 , amazing selection from the far flung corners of the Country, often in less than ideal weather & light! A great review in any case & on reflection probably best avoid Waddington & Keevil! ;)

I think that on this showing we'll roll with 'Sharpshooters'?
Well-travelled, well-timed & jolly well-done! Brilliant set of images & totally beyond me to pick a single standout shot. :thumb:

The "Crow-man" you say? Guess you have to be a local/frequent visitor to know who this is, as he could be 'unusually' not parked there on any given day! Either way, it's great to get your scanner back so promptly & restores ones faith in the Community camaraderie. :thumb: That, despite rece...

Re: 2x converter for canon 70-200ml f2.8 EF lens

I've used every combination of Lens & converters going! Got EF-1.4 TC Mk 1,2 & 3 + EF-2.0 TC Mk 1 & 3. With the camera bodies micro-adjusted to each combination the results were acceptable. With the MkIII Converters the images are even more acceptable. For years my 'go-to Lens Combo' was an EF-300/2...

Thanks Mike. Yep! A little too conservative with words in the Topic title. I linked the AKT to C2 in my search & it didn't find any thing for that, or just 'AKT'

These are great shots of real Hueys. Subject & backdrops are spot-on. Number 6 & 13 (lovin' the driver checking for No Parking restrictions!) from the Huey set for my picks. :thumb:

But, sadly Google & Co don't seem able to inform me what the Sub-variant 'AKT' is?

Re: Camera/Lens for overflight photos at 33,000 feet

Bold Statement Warning. The Canon 75-300 Lens is only one-click up from a milk-bottle for optical quality! ;) To achieve your aspirations you're going to need a relatively high Mega-Pix' body with a decent focal length high quality lens. Most Canon bodies have very adequate video function these days...

Great shots from an excellent show. Although you need to be creative during the early part of the show due to the Sun position, it comes very good later as clearly demonstrated here. :thumb:

One-Eleven 539GL ZH763 would've been much better-off where it was previously "stored in Cornwall." Actually, there's only about 8.5% of fact in that whole BBC text diarrhoea. It was an intact display aircraft for the CAHC Museum which was closed by Cornwall County Council for a private Agenda possib...
