Buses from Brandon
I am thinking of getting over to LN next week to see the F15/F35 'take team'. Can anyone help with the 200/201 buses from Brandon station - how close do they stop to the viewing area? From the timetable it looks like they must go pretty close but I don't know whether there is a stop. Any help apprec...

It's like an Airfix decal sheet - they had to paste one on each eagle!Thunder wrote:They all appear to have the same amount of mission marks applied, seems odd?

Re: Thanks for your work
FC is a site I couldn't live without - I'm not a hugely 'active' member - I can't get out to see much activity unfortunately working in London and being unable to drive but this forum has been a daily part of my life since around 2010 when I discovered it - so a big thank you from me to the guys who...

After looking at those silly F35's it's nice to see some proper dirty jets. Long live the Phantom!!

Re: Luke - foreign F35s
I hope that someone somewhere gets some paint cans out and jazzes them up a bit when the F35 goes into service - lets be honest they are far too expensive a toy to use in actual combat so the 'low visibility / stealth paint' (or whatever they are coated with is redundant anyway. The Japanese have so...

Re: Russia / NATO Tensions
I'm with page_verify on this - I wrote something similar on another thread on this forum about this subject. How likely the above scenario is (a special forces 'take over' of one of the Baltic states) I don't know (certainly not unlikely) but it would be a sure fire way to undermine and expose the c...

Thanks for this as I was gutted to not see them come through London yesterday. Sad to see them go - a little legend!

Re: Lynx Farewell Tour
Thanks for the heads up - I'd have liked to have seen this but I'm not in London next Friday. Always liked the Naval Lynx - I remember making a few Airfix versions - tricky little oh fudge if I remember rightly! :-)

Nice video - notice how fast those chase cars are having to go - the landing speed looks fairly pacey!

Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020
In reply to Graham - yes I believe that was very much the plan for the 'Twin Bases' hence why all the A-10 squadrons had forward operating locations (FOL) in Germany which they would regularly deploy too. That would have allowed those bases and additionally places like Wethersfield and Sculthorpe to...

Re: RAF Mildenhall to close. Lakenheath to get F-35 by 2020
Slightly off topic - sorry - but continuing with a line of conversation in this thread. I did know that Bentwaters had a lot of money spent on it before it closed but I didnt realise it was specifically for F15 ops. Was the plan to close LN in that case and base the F15s at WR - what was the reason ...

Re: Trumps boost in defence spending
I'd always guessed (though I stand to be corrected) that the Germans have an issue with the US military on their soil - I can see why many in Germany (and in German politics) might see it as a hangover from the Cold War and a rather imperialistic gesture from the US. These days nothing is set in sto...

Re: Thorpe Abbotts, 100th BG
Indeed - this was supposed to have been in the 'can' so to speak years ago - it's had a very protracted conception. As far as I am aware it is going to be based on Donald L Miller's fairly recent history (published around 10 years ago) called 'Eighth Air force' - it was mooted as being the biggest b...

Re: NATO without US
Call me pessimistic but I think thats a very likely scenario and I agree with Page Verify and 22A - I really can't see there being a collective response - especially not in military terms. Putin could finish the idea of a NATO as we know it in just a few weeks by annexing one of the former eastern b...
