Re: Future of the Fairford deployment section

I was always under the impression that the ‘heads up’’ott’ section was for reporting a/c operating within the UK that aren’t based within the UK(some will argue that’s the Bomber deployments), or for a/c seen in areas that they aren’t often seen ie: I wouldn’t post a heads up for a Lossie Typhoon s...

Re: Future of the Fairford deployment section

Chris (EGVP) is right.

If people insist on posting repetitive stuff in the wrong places and don't read what is already there then ban them for a week. If they can't get their FC fix they'll start to follow the rules ;)

Re: RIAT 2019: Arrivals

I recall that in previous years the Turkish KC-135 hasn't hung around but has departed pretty quickly. I assume that's also going to be the case this year - but note there is no departure slot on the schedules that have been posted..? The tanker said they would land after the fighters (presume this...

Re: Peace Protesters

the post says it's in the 'General Info' section On my screen it shows the post is in: Home < Board index < Fairford Bomber Deployment 2019 < General Info Different browsers/devices might show things in different ways but the post IS in the correct section to clearly show that it is about Fairford ;)

Thanks dervish, I didn't know that. What about around the Shetlands where I read the B52 is on the Tracking thread?
If people have reported that it's tracking on 360radar then it must be in range of enough people feeding data to that system to enable a position to be calculated.

Re: General Queries and Questions thread

.... I can't see it on adsbexchange.com/VirtualRadar. I would have thought it would have been in the air by now If that relies on multilateration for position then you would have to wait until they are in range of several data sources. None of those sources are available out over the pond. One of t...

Re: Coningsby night flying week commencing 7th May2018

Has anyone clocked what time they've been launching today and yesterday? In the past there's been a few day launches before the night flying kicks in after sunset. Certainly some up around mid-afternoon yesterday (including one of the ones with a merkin driver). Currently (17:50) have HAVOC31-33 to...

Air defence type exercises, refuelling with TARTAN22 in ARA8 etc. A couple of Merkin accents noted

Re: RAW vs JPEG

Your camera collects data - the so called 'raw' Something converts that to an image, data is lost - the jpeg (as an aside, what you see on the camera back is a converted image not the 'raw' data) On basic cameras the conversion will be done in the camera and there is no access to the original data. ...

Reasonably regular to get them use the airfield as a fuel stop....not usual to have five examples and three types on one day though.

Will give you two or three stops extra to play with and still allow easy panning. Really useful when space is at a premium and light not as bright as you'd like. If you get one make sure it's light and compact. Long sections or heavy and you'll just leave it behind. Get two feet for it...one wide di...
