Re: US Navy issues F/A-XX RFI

this is something the UK should keep an eye on with regards to joining as by 2030 eurofighters going to be 20yrs old and would also need to start being replaced . i'd rather we join this rather than another european effort

Re: UK defences.

One way that it could be used say a community is being persecuted by a regime and they are using airpower to execute their crackdown. setting up a no fly zone is one thing but we could also set up missile umbrella.

Re: UK defences.

it seems to me that most of us are in agreement of that this is a capability which the UK needs to have jet fighters are extremly capable but they are not the be all and end all of air defence .Take last year with the icelandic volcanic ash where were the fighters then . What about our nuclear power...

Re: Bones to the grave as the Cobra takes on the Viper

Actually we should try and convince the US to buy our tranch 1 eurofighters to equip their agressor squadrons as everyone knows how to fight F-16's but a more advanced enemy is needed

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

Look i love my country but we can't keep buying british if it means we are going to be too late and too much. Why has the cost of conversion trippled and if they can't justify it don't scrap it . find someone who can do it even if it means going abroad time to tell these companies no more ripping us...

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

I've said that before that we should wait for the replacement for the F-18 superhornet and lease aircraft in the mean time also like you said that stealth is overkill for the stovl variant and a internal fuel tank would be useful were the weapons go. can some one say could you find a way to fit the ...

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

maybe what the Us means is in a coalition operation you can simultaniously operate 2 carriers one for launching one for recovering and vice-versa.And with a conventional carrier layout you could still operate the stovl variant anyway. Maybe when the next defence review is done and the uk does get ri...

Re: UK to revert back to F-35B?

I'm only guessing but one reason maybe that my father served on board the old HMS eagle and stated quite often in seas around the falklands the sea state is too rough to operate conventional aircraft off the carriers . So having the stovl variant would keep operations going theres no point having a ...

Re: Argentina Turns To UN Over Falklands Row

I know this is a bit off topic but in the latest round of ''dutch defence cuts weren't they dispanding some of their patriot missile batteries if so couldn't we swap them for say some c-130's that are about to be replaced by A-400m's and deploy them to the falklands that would mess up any plans that...
