Re: Gaydon Air Display in the 1960's

The oldest RAF yearbook in my collection is from the '58 Gaydon Air Display. Regrettably the cover is very tatty but here is a pic of it together with the flying display programme. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53523933842_fdd6aa7f5f_b.jpg Gaydon '58 Souvenir book + programme by Michael Britto...

Fabulous set Keith. particularly those flightline pics with the blue sky which was all too rarely seen atop the Wolds, probably due to the proximity to the coast.

Re: Appeal for pic of Gulf War nose art on Nimrod XV244

Thanks for the heads up 1MT. Your powers of observation are remarkable. Have had that publication for many years but failed to notice that pic. Obviously been focussed on the sexier nose art on the fast jets. It is a scan of part of that pic which mancman has found on the net and is not particularly...

Hi F3, i believe the picture you are looking for is in the RAF Gulf War Yearbook special, you should be able to download it for free from docdroid.
Thanks for the info. I do have a copy which I'll dig out and check but I can't remember ever seeing it.

Appeal for pic of Gulf War nose art on Nimrod XV244

I have just completed an article on the history of the recently reformed 42 (R) Sqn. and am trying to source a pic of the nose art on this a/c which read Battle Star 42. During its deployment @ Seeb, Oman it was credited with 4 ship kills I've never seen a pic of this so it's a bit of a long shot, b...

Re: RAF Binbrook 22 October 1985 - PRIORY 2/85

Cracking set there Keith. I was also there on the Tues p.m. It was the half term hols and we were at my parents caravan in Brid. Heard mention of the exercise on the local lunchtime news, jumped in the car and hightailed it over the Humber Bridge just in time to catch the afternoon action.

Great set. Those RAFG Tooms were the icing on a very sweet cake. The Priory exercises were always good value - and there were 3 or 4 per annum!

Hi Mick,

I noticed in your book you were unable to get a hold of some of the Finningley programme, I might be able to help you with some scans?

LF
Thanks for the offer mate but no point now the book's been done.

Re: Best ever Finningley - Sat 21 Sept '91

It had great weather on arrivals and most of the show day until the Russians arrived but take out the Russians and it was fairly low on overseas participation. I'd say the final line up in 1994 was far superior to be honest. If I was old enough I think I'd have preferred all that RAF kit at the 197...

Re: Best ever Finningley - Sat 21 Sept '91

I'm not too sure, the 1969 Finningley was very good. 4 x Vulcan Scramble each carrying a Blue Steel Practice round, Lightning 4-ship and solo, Norwegian F-5s, Dutch F-104, Sea Vixen, Belfast and many more! Also first display by Harrier. LF Regrettably the '69 show was one of the few I missed altho'...

Aardvark & Sparkvark scans

Re: Leconfield Open Day - 20th July 1974

According to the book on the Lightning by Martin Derry & Neil Robinson XM137 was operated by the Air Fighting Development Squadron and loaned to 74 (Tiger) Sqn for the '61 airshow season as they were that year's RAF Display Team and required an increased complement of jets to enable them to field a ...
