Re: New member questions about shuttleworth

Hi Daniel, not sure about off airfield viewing but think they are mainly smaller country roads so probably well policed to keep clear. But can recommend on fielding viewing some truly unique aircraft, an amazing atmosphere that you don't get anywhere else & there curved flight line meaning a differe...

Re: Hello

I was at Lakenheath when the F4 Phantoms went back to the States, all of them within one morning, if I remember right there was about 100 in total, they taxied down in blocks of 8 and took the salute of the commanding officers and all shut their cockpits at the same time in salute, it was a magic m...

Re: Hello

Welcome to the group. I wish I had seen F-4 and F-111 at Lakenheath much as I love F-15 it would have been pretty cool. Having holidayed along the coast at Weymouth it is quite light on jets, as you say saw a few Chinooks about and I enjoy the big ships too so all was good!!

Re: Tail code

During the early 1990s 229OCU/65sqd (at Coningsby) ran out of letters (AA-AZ) so used numbers following the A for a while I have ZE794 carrying A4. Don't know if all the numbers were used but I logged A2, A4, A5, A7, A8. If only the OCU now had over 30 airframes, damn simulators!!

Re: Question about serial numbers

But most of these additional questions I have had to ask myself too at some point. Have seen parts of aircraft that are larger...

Good Afternoon

Is it definitely grey, there is a camo jet provost flies quite regularly from Nottingham Tollerton Airport if you search for Jet Provost T52 G-PROV for pics maybe the one you see?!

Re: Interesting RAF Station Crests

I have always enjoyed the story that the RAF Scampton Crest, of a bow and arrow, represents the main runway with the arrow and the bow is the curve of the A15 which was bent when the runway was extended for the Vulcans having been perfectly straight since the Romans.
