Well spotted and thank you for the correction. I obviously put far too much trust in Airfix........

Re: Tiger Bounce

Great idea. Would the F-4Js have had Fletcher tanks fitted for this at this time though? They were delivered with them.. Yes, of course they were, as that was a long distance ferry flight! The subject is a completely different kind of sortie, hence my question "fitted for this". A good question and...

Tiger Bounce

Tiger Bounce Back in 1985, 74 had had a pretty successful APC in Cyprus and flown against the F-14`s of VF-41 and VF-84 who were in the Med at the time. Feeling pleased with itself, on returning to the UK, the Tigers issued a challenge to all Strike Command Squadrons. 74 would man a CAP off the eas...

My best educated guess based on the markings and camo, is that these are on a delivery flight to North Africa.

Re: RAF Tornado aborted, Wingman close call Take off

While the event is probably rare, I don`t doubt that aircrew train and have a procedure for aborted take off`s in pairs or flights of four albeit if your in the aborting aircraft or behind it.

Just saying that `close call take off` is making it sound something more that it actually was.

Interesting video...., but the title is misleading and a bit sensationalist IMHO.

Re: Anyone know what this is and the back story ?

Interesting thread this. When looking at the Tu-128 wiki page I found my way to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_XF-108_Rapier I'd never heard of this project. It has a whiff of Vigilante, XB-70 and F-22 about it I reckon. What a sight it would have been... Also has a look of Avro...

Re: Anyone know what this is and the back story ?

I thought it had the look of the Fiddler about it, just curious about the extra cockpit, seems to me to be the wrong shape to be a trainer version. Well here`s the link I used to get the information....., http://q-zon-fighterplanes.com/fighter-jets-in-action/fighters-ussrrussia/ussr-russia-vi/ .......

Tupolev Tu-128 UT

I think this version is the trainer for the Tupolev Tu-128 (Tu-28P)?

Re: UK to extend Typhoon OSD to 2040 and form additional two

To hell with all this seniority garbage......, the RAF needs a fixed wing Tiger Sqn to flaunt in front of all those European types every year.

.....But then I am unashamedly bias.... :P :D

Re: New Hawk special tail

The RFC had the same fin flashes as the French at the start of WW1, but then changed them round so everyone could tell if it was a French or British aircraft.

Not sure if this is a mistake or showing both examples. Only the artist will be able to answer that one.
