Re: Eject! Eject! Eject!

Thank you very much for the kind words and it`s always appreciative to hear from someone so closely linked to an event I recreated in plastic.

Please send my regards to your father and thank him for his service.

F-4J Cabriolet

On the 18th May 1988 Rich Lepman, a US exchange pilot assigned to the Tigers, was lined up on the runway at the annual APC at RAF Akrotiri with his back seater Steve Smyth. They were part of a pairs take off for the sortie flying F-4J(uk) ZE362/V with a standard gun pod fitted. The start of the take...

Re: Tiger Trails

Thanks chaps. :thumb: Very nice mate. I was Adjutant of an Air Training Corps camp at Wattisham when they landed. I remember watching them in the circuit for the first time. I seem to remember there being more than 3 arriving though. I may be incorrect, or other aircraft went up to escort them in. N...

Tiger Trails

Delivery of the F-4J(uk)`s to the RAF started in the Autumn of 1984 with the first three arriving at Wattisham after a trans Atlantic flight named Tiger Trails 1. A further 4 Tiger Trails were flown before December 1984. Individual tails codes were not supplied until arrival in the UK and this model...

Re: Manston DFTDC - Sept 17 (Pic Heavy)

Most interesting. The types mark the passage of time. Seem to remember my late Dad telling me they were mostly Shacks + Sea Hawks when the School was @ Catterick back in the 70s. Vulcans followed. They used to land them over the A1 as I recall. My sadness at seeing the F3s + F4s is somewhat allevia...

Manston DFTDC - Sept 17 (Pic Heavy)

I had the privilege of being invited to visit the Manston Fire Dump last September and took the following photo`s, (there are plenty more on my Flickr page). I`ll start off with a few photo`s of my main reason to visit and the rest are in no particular order. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4333/3700...

TSR2 meets Red Beard

A little 1/72 scale something I`ve been working on the last couple of months with a fair amount of that time trying to choose an appropriate paint scheme! This is most definitively within the realms of `what if`, although some of it can be traced in fact like say, the serial numbers and red tail, wh...

Re: F4 Phantom Model

I would suggest 1/48 scale as this fits in nicely with the size restrictions and also gives you plenty of scope with different US marks of F-4. I always try to use Hasegawa kits for my F-4`s although I have enjoyed the latest Academy versions. Add these to the various after market decals, etch and m...

Thanks all.

A bit of an experimental build, I`m not happy with the bomb drop but it`s all good practice, lessons learned and all that.

Bri, that must of been a very long weekend..... :P

A-6 SEA Experimental Scheme

I going stick a pin in this one and say it`s done. I had planned to shorten the rod and place a blurred Vietnam base underneath it, but on hindsight, I`ll save that for something else.  I based the scheme on this photo...., https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4460/37005387623_35f3169206_b.jpg   ...... sh...
