Pretty awesome they have gone for the M-346 over the M-345. Plenty of power compared to what we normally see from display teams other than the Black Eagles.

one to watch defiantly.

Mark.
Not too defiantly , I hope...... :D

Re: Guy Martin Top Gun - Channel 4 - Sunday 25th August 2024, 9pm

I actually disagree about the details about the manouvers. At no point was an entry speed ever mentioned, no mention of how many 'g's on the meter and only one mention of rudder in the air at all!. Found the actual flying part extremely simplistic. Basically, if you pull the stick back, the houses ...

Re: Guy Martin Top Gun - Channel 4 - Sunday 25th August 2024, 9pm

Guy can sometimes be a marmite kind of character, but I have to say this was a very good programme, where I didn't find him irritating at all. It was nothing spectacularly new, i.e if you've been around in aviation for a while you know how engines work and the history of Whittle etc. etc. BUT that w...

Re: Tempest demo aircraft production started

I saw the EAP demonstrator display at least once, definitely at the Red Arrows 25th anniversary show at Scampton, maybe Farnborough? I remember thinking at the time it was really unimpressive and wondered what all the fuss was about. Yes I saw it at Farnborough, and if I recall was quite impressed!...

🇺🇦 🌻 🇺🇦 It crossed my mind too seahorses and who knows the views of the new political regime? I think you'll find that in the multi-£Billion Tempest programme, the actual name and designation is not that high up the list!, versus capability and cost, rest assured there won't be packed government co...

Re: Tempest demo aircraft production started

Set to fly in 3 years! That doesn't seem far away. Would it be doing the display circuit straight away or would it be limited to test flight for a couple of years before shows like RIAT and Farnborough? It's a prototype, a one off, a test aircraft, it will be capturing data and expanding the envelo...

I'm a bit perplexed by the strategy; what happened to their SU-27/35s- supposedly a highly rated a/c?

I wonder how the Italians get these new a/c,the Italian economy is in dire straits.
Borrowing!

"Italy's public debt decreased to 137.3% of GDP in 2023, down from 140.5% in the previous year and below the government's target of 140.2%."

Re: Telegraph- Why Britain’s F-35s could be consigned to the scrap heap

Our forces do seem somewhat small but there’s more than 100 jets. More like 120 Typhoon and 34 F-35, projected in a few years to just over 100 typhoon with binning of tranche 1s and hopefully 74 lightnings. Or 48 if we’re unlucky. Yes agreed there are more airframes, my comment stated operational, ...

Re: Telegraph- Why Britain’s F-35s could be consigned to the scrap heap

I often look at Italy with its F-35A, F-35B, Eurofighter Typhoon, Tornado, Harrier and until earlier this year the AMX plus it is a partner with Japan and ourselves in the Tempest project. Then I look at us with just Typhoon and F-35B, no plans at the moment for F-35A or extra Typhoons, the older t...

Re: 14 Squadron Crusaders

I have to admit I find it strange clutching to a somewhat false image of crusaders (where in reality, especially The Knights Templar, were jihadists of their day, the middle ages, were hated by the masses, were mainly french and French speaking, and were far from patriots) when there are far more ac...

Re: Infrastructure Work plans for Brize Norton

Pax flights could operate out of Manchester. Most passengers are not actually heading to or from Brize but other parts of the UK. Manchester would be ideal based on domestic connectivity. I mean, we could list all UK airports here and the fact they might have some use, however............. Surely o...

Despite what might be seen as a negative post by me earlier, whilst I don't like nuclear weapons [why would anybody?] I of course realise that their presence is necessary to keep peace in this troubled world. If people don't like them, it is their right to protest against them without personal angs...

Would have thought either/ or both Waddington and/ or Mildenhall would be the ideal Airfields for RAF Transport Relocation in this case plus a couple of Tankers to Coningsby and/ or Lossiemouth.... Re: Shadow fleet gets increased to 8

There are issues sadly. Technical? or contractual? or indeed financial? More likely motivational! No pressure to finish from anyone, and all the salary's are being paid at our expense, so why rush. Is that the actual case? or supposition? I'd have sincerely hoped the contract was a fixed cost and t...

Except it is in the US and will probably never be seen this side of The Pond. Absolutely, will need to make a few journeys out West to see it, look forward to doing that if it happens. Much like Art's Sea Harrier, in the US you can get these things on the experimental certificate and fly them, ther...

Re: 15 Years After Start: B-52 Bomber With Rolls-Royce Engines Won’t Fly Until 2033

Given that the first production B-52H, 61-0001 was funded, as per the serial, in '61 and I'd expect it to have then joined the service a year or so afterwards, it's been in service for at least 60 years, so one can work out how many generations could have flown it as of today, and also how many migh...

Re: 15 Years After Start: B-52 Bomber With Rolls-Royce Engines Won’t Fly Until 2033

Poor reporting there, is it a case of not flying till 2033? or not entering service to 2033?, which if the latter it should fly a few years before 2033.
