Isn't that what it appears they've started doing....? Presumably the 1,234 people or however many it was who flew in last month are still here....? :halo:

Re: Used EOS-1D MK2

Thanks Martin. A month after getting my used EOS-1DMk2N for £200 from London Camera Exchange, I have to say it's probably the best value for money camera item I've even had. A quick shutter count check shows it's done about 1/8 of the expected 250,000 exposure lifetime, it's built like a tank so des...

Re: Aviation Books to read

A very insightful read about the life of a former Army Air Corps pilot who transferred to the SAS's flying squadron, then to the SAS itself, then to SIS. It contains more "first revelations" about just what the British got up to on the mainland during the Falklands War. https://images-na.ssl-images-...

Re: KC-46 Problem Poses “Significant Risk,” Imperils Stealth

From all the problems I've heard and read about over the years, I don't think any beats an HF radio for causing dangerous interference or spurious signals. A certain small and very high flying aircraft apparently no longer has an HF radio for that reason.

The big problem is that in order to save money they first have to spend a lot of money, which they don't have.

The rumour is the that the KC-135s will be the last aircraft operating from Mildenhall which will be an almost empty base apart from some TDY scale staff supporting them.

Re: USAF Gives go ahead for B-52 Re-engining

I just can't see it happening for the rudder and engine mount problems going from 8 to 4 engines would cause while there's not enough competitive options to replace all eight engines like for like.

No one wants him to fire an ICBM towards any of their ABM defences because they've never been tested in combat conditions against an unseen ICBM before. If he fires and every US defence misses..... (And yes, we don't have anything to protect us against anything incoming, just the radars to tell us i...

IFE divert, return to the US, forward deployment? Just surprised no one else wondered why two went out but only one came back.

There's enough US aircraft that fly within missile range of NK on a daily basis (U-2, RC-135 etc.) for him to choose what he shoots down, should he want to.

Re: BBC - US Bombers fly close to North Korea

Really, Putin seems to be doing quiet well. First Georgia, then Ukraine proxy wars and then he grabs the Crimea. Kim might be emboldened by his example and go for South Korea. One might like to be fashionable and consider that war is an old fashioned thing that's had its day whereas the reality is ...

Re: BBC - US Bombers fly close to North Korea

I increasingly feel that Trump is the only person in the world who'd consider starting a war with North Korea - has he not noticed that no one wins a war these days, especially not the US? The US has attacked or invaded Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria in the last decade and is still picking up th...

Nothing but sabre rattling. Fortunately, the people in the USAF has a very different attitude to Trump and have no desire to start some war with NK. War with NK again would be one of the worst chapters of modern history. Realists rather than pacifists here for once.

It's only in the wrong wind conditions that the Buff's chute will drag along the ground, it's designed to need very little forward ground speed to stay fully open.
