Re: Lakenheath F-15Cs

The Sniper Pod is also used as a long range/bad weather visual identification tool, which is why some F-15C units have been carrying the pod since the mid-2000s.

Lakenheath F-15Cs

Quick question - do any of the UK based F-15Cs ever carry the Sniper targeting pod?

Supra, From your post I’m guessing you’re involved in the UK’s CHF helicopter force. What’s your world’s view on the need for this?

Are Hunters allowed to fly again? Even if they are, I bet the cost of keeping one legally flying now along with the fear of a drastically shrunk air show market is enough to take a good offer.

Re: MoD rule out A400M Atlas in flight refuelling

The contract details mentioned above only refer to fixed wing aircraft, so presumably the Merlin can get its fuel from elsewhere?

So is that finally it? Or are the hundreds of Americans driving their American cars just taking a break while they go back home for the US holiday season?

Re: planes that changed the world

Did the SR-71 really change the world? Or did help a select few to make more informed political decisions about topical challenges? Still, I suspect it helps them sell more documentaries despite having no new content in them!

Definitizing is a commonly used term in the US commercial legal world, we just don’t hear it used in everyday life.

Sadly, it’s becsuse their return on investment is higher, so if they invest more they get even more returns. I wouldn’t say London gets investment just because it’s London but because it’s a big services centre and 80% of our GDP comes from service related industries now. Other service centres such ...

Re: More bombers heading to Fairford

Generally speaking, the number of people who know what’s going to happen on a day by day or year by year basis is much much smaller than it was even five years ago. That happens to make it much much easier for those in charge to work out who’s told who when they shouldn’t have done. I suspect that’s...

Surely PCB would have that insight or have the plumbers caught up with them?

Wasn't it mentioned publicly many moons ago that there'd be visitors until the end of October or was that something I heard in conversation?

Can't resist pointing out the well known fact that a watch that is consistently 5 minutes fast will never be right, whereas a watch that is broken will be 100% right twice a day! We laugh and joke about watches - but the same analogy applies to the data managers use to make decisions in a business ...

Re: Comings and goings

The devil is in the detail, my apologies for misleading anyone! The B-2 is the only US bomber now which overflies its targets before dropping nuclear bombs. It has to make its way through air defences while its crew risk being on the receiving end of some unhappy locals if they need to eject in a hu...
