Re: Corridor Question

Correct robg. No need to travel the full length of the corridor if there is nothing in the airway to affect a 'resume own-navigation' turn.

Re: Passenger accidentally ejects from Rafale

I had a flight in a Hawk T.2 in 2016 and I was able to eject myself from the rear seat if necessary leaving the pilot sat up front or he could eject us both if required. As for the seat selection setup in the Rafale in question, given the rest of the complacency that’s emerging it is no surprise at ...

Re: 6 Ex RAF Tristars sold to US company

An A380 will never be used as a tanker lol. A330/B767 sized aircraft are perfect for the job and as mentioned above, they can carry passengers and freight inside the ‘cabin’.
Once the USAF KC-10A goes to AMARG that’s then done too!

Re: 6 Ex RAF Tristars sold to US company

I cannot think of a single scenario that will involve those Tristars departing Bruntingthorpe via any other means other than the back of a lorry after they are scrapped.

Yes, D21 went home.

As for SILAS01, it did a 'local' flight i.e. Fairford to Fairford ;-)

Re: Is there going to be a press day?

Glyn, My suggestion is to get in your car and drive to Fairford and take your chance. So far the Spirits seem to be departing between 0900 and 1030 so that should give you an idea. If they don't fly or are hangared then them's the breaks unfortunately. You will not get a flying program for them nor ...

One of you should submit a FOIA request to Whiteman then to find out which Spirit '13' was lol!

Mark,
Have a look near to East Beni Suef on GE and you will find it. I don’t know what it’s called though.

Re: Which B2s have visited the UK

Great list of those to have visited. As the B-2 boys and girls seem to like sending a jet or two over each time that hasn’t visited before, if somebody can kindly ask them to send ‘California’ over it would be much appreciated!

Re: Which B2s have visited the UK

A B-2 can be picked up on radar. They don’t have a fighter escort every time that they fly a training mission in the States for example. AFAIK, they have the ability to stick ‘something’ out that be picked up by radar and that ‘something’ is retracted when they need to go into stealth mode. The F-11...

Re: B2 Deployment March/April (general information thread)

The hangar doors only need to open about a foot each for the aircraft serial to be read off the NWD. I guess it’s down to the individual as to how much they need to see before they log it lol.

One correction Mr Vulcan. RCH838 flew KSZL-KPSM-EGVA and hasn’t visited LPLA.

Oops, Whiteman-Portsmouth(New Hampshire not Hampshire lol)-Fairford and not Lajes.

Re: F-18s join adversary provider Air USA

IIRC correctly the Airtanker concept will cost the British taxpayer roughly four times the amount of money over the lifetime of the program than it would if the MOD had bought the tankers outright from the start? That would have meant paying for them at the time though rather than spreading the cost...

Most likely a cap of 48 F-35 B models. I would be amazed if an F-35 A model order isn't forthcoming.
