I seen this also, guess it’s the waiting game of whether anything passes through.
I believe it’s just Hawks and Texans at the moment but even they’re sporadic.

Re: Altcar 2020
Thanks, the fuel tanker is where I think the Merlins were last year. I’m planning to hang around for a while anyway yet. My luck would be that they return 5 mins after I leave otherwise!

Re: Altcar 2020
Been here around an hour. Two wildcats on the field both covered. No signs of anything else other than a fuel tanker that arrived and parked in the middle of a field.

Re: Altcar 2020
All I can now answer my own question. If you walk up the path by the railway you come to the 2 Wildcats. It is then quite a long walk until you get to the Merlins. We were only able to see the 3 grey ones, one which took off, there is probably one spot where you may be able to see all 3, otherwise ...

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2020 Discussion Thread
Judging from the last few years we’ve always had an announcement of a participant on the first working Thursday of the year. I wonder if anything is revealed later?

I’ve seen on another group that two Typhoons have departed this morning? Presumably off to Finland, unsure of serials I’m afraid.

Re: USAF launches 52 F-35A's
One day, there will be a post about the F-35 without pointless and unnecessary slandering of it.  Also, SPERX - Just remember. We ain't the US. We don't have their budget. We’re also not in the 1970’s anymore. I don’t understand people’s fixation on the EE Lightning, yes I unders...

Listed under exercises in January 2020. Assuming it’ll be a similar set up to those that the Swiss (I think) did last year.

Re: January 2020 Log/Movements
I note on scramble it is listing 2 x Typhoons going to Finland tomorrow to commence Hx fighter trials. Assuming that even though these are listed as RAF they’ll in fact be two of the BAE test jets?

Re: European Airshows 2020.
Thanks, considering all options at the moment.eagle driver wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 9:57 pmQuickest would be fly to Amsterdam and then hire a car ,depends on your personal plans
Ferry would leave you with more driving ,but gives you more options as in more bases to visit on route.

Is this an annual exercise or was it a one-off last year? I can’t find anything on the scramble summary regarding this.

What would be the best method of travel to Leuwarden? Guessing either flying to Amsterdam / Eindhoven and hire a car or get the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam?eagle driver wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2020 8:53 pmUsually nearly as good as an airshow Frisian flag on 23 March -4 April
Rumour circulating mention California ANG F-15s taking part.

Re: Lakenheath Christmas closure NOTAM
Like I said it’s a 6 hour round trip for me so if LN is dead it’s a lot of wasted time. Might wait it out and see how tomorrow is and if it’s active I’ll head up Friday morning and do Mildenhall in the afternoon.

Re: Lakenheath
I’ve heard they’re flying F-117 Night Hawks as a christmas surprise for the serving families. I would recommend being at the viewing area from 5am though until around10pm, they’re likely to use the cover of darkness so they’re not spotted by civilians!
